It could be old stock that had been misplaced.

QuoteNo chance it was mixed in with a bunch of older stuff that was looted from one of the arms dumps they have?

Not misplaced. Undoubtedly looted. Everything that wasn't nailed down, and some stuff that was. Somebody has a private stash of stuff. I doubt there's that much, but there is enough to create problems for a while.
When I was younger, a friend was sent to jail for trying to sell former US Army stuff to an FBI agent. Grenades, mortars, C-4, etc. It happens everywhere. He was a former supply sgt.

QuoteInteresting! So we could find no WMD's in Iraq after we invaded, but a year later, people are managing to buy, steal and/or produce the stuff! Sounds like Saddam was more effective than the US in halting production of WMD's.
Or SH could hide it really good...It was his back yard.
Funny though that its a WMD in a country that didn't have any.

QuoteBecause the old "binary-type" artillery shell requires the mixing of two chemical components in separate sections of the cell to produce the sarin, it is likely that the insurgents who rigged it as a roadside bomb were unaware that it contained chemicals for producing the nerve agent rather than explosives, Kimmitt said.
Old binary style, does that sounds like itwas made less than 15 months ago?
Quotethat there were likely to be some of these still around Iraq,"
So even David Kay says Iraq probably still had NBCs...

Impossible. Even though SH was a totalitarian dictator of the worlds largest sandbox, he would not have been able to move the stuff without a truck. And let's not forget, there is the problem of a hole. Even if he found a truck, how would he be able to dig a hole?
This is obviously the work of outside terrorists.

I know that all you people who work in cubicles are secretly stealing office supplies. Same thing with SHs army. They've all got a mortar or two at home.

Not saying it's Bush's fault; the war is being run by far more than one person. It is just very ironic that one of the lesser reasons we invaded Iraq was to prevent WMD's from falling into the hands of Al Qaeda. And now, a year after we invaded, Al Qaeda is gathering strength, and terrorists have managed to get their hands on chemical weapons. And yet every time we hear from the proponents of the war we hear about how great things are. "That biased liberal media. Nobody mentions that most of the members of the new Iraqi government were NOT assassinated today!" Reminds me again of that scene from Brazil:
------------------------------------------------
Interviewer: Deputy minister, what do you believe is behind this recent increase in terrorist bombings?
HELPMANN: Bad sportsmanship. A ruthless minority of people seems to have forgotten certain good old fashioned virtues. They just can't stand seeing the other fellow win. If these people would just play the game, instead of standing on the touch line heckling -
Interviewer: In fact, killing people -
HELPMANN: - In fact, killing people - they'd get a lot more out of life.
Interviewer: Do you think that the government is winning the battle against terrorists?
HELPMANN: On yes. Our morale is much higher than theirs, we're fielding all their strokes, running a lot of them out, and pretty consistently knocking them for six. I'd say they're nearly out of the game.
Interviewer: But the bombing campaign is now in its thirteenth year ...
HELPMANN: Beginner's luck.
QuoteInteresting! So we could find no WMD's in Iraq after we invaded, but a year later, people are managing to buy, steal and/or produce the stuff!
From the news account, it was very old stuff, not recently produced. Where do you suppose it came from? An old hidden stockpile? Do you think the stockpile is big enough for a lot of these events or is this a single event?
I suspect there are people in Iraq that knew where this shit was the whole time, and were waiting for the chance.

QuoteIraq had the deadly nerve agent in its stockpile but had declared its arsenal destroyed after the Gulf War.
And yet here it is.
QuoteKimmitt said the artillery round was of an old style that Saddam Hussein's regime had declared it no longer possessed after the Persian Gulf War.
And yet here one is.
QuoteOfficials in Washington said another shell -- this one containing mustard gas -- was found 10 days ago in Iraq.
Oh lookie..more.
But remember there were no WMD's in Iraq....At least SH said there were none....I guess you can get these things at K-Mart right?
billvon 3,120
Of course there were! We kept the receipts.

?? You can't buy AK-47's, RPG's or remotely detonated bombs at K-Mart either. But terrorists generally have different methods of getting them. Stealing them from the military is one popular method.

What's your point Bill?
You mean they steal them from the military that doesn't have any?
They were all destroyed - right?

Depends whose military they stole them from. Maybe they have "Made in USA" stamped on the bottom.
Jeez, the USA has misplaced (aka lost) some 4 tons of weapons grade plutonium. What's a nerve gas shell or two?

QuoteWhat back up do you have of this?
What evidence do you have that this CW was owned by and/or known to the Iraqi regime?

Are you claiming that Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iran do not have chemical weapons?
Remember, there wasn't much of an Al Qaeda presence in Iraq before we invaded.

Iraqi scientist, Gazi George says we will begin finding more. 2/3rds down this page (Fox article). He also says the Survey Group needs more time, as one year isn't enough.

Sorry Rhino, couldn't resist the story just a few links down the page.
