lawrocket 3 #1 May 13, 2004 I don't really watch the news anymore. I find it disturbing and depressing. I saw Dr. Phil on the Today show who said that my view is not unique. I guess I just one of millions who would rather watch sports or the discovery channel than see rampant disappointment at humankind. Am I alone on here? Has anyone else limited their intake of news because of the inevitable depression that comes with it? My wife is hotter than your wife.
PhillyKev 0 #2 May 13, 2004 Don't know how to answer. I'd say I get more news sources now than I have in the past. But very little of it is from television.
wmw999 2,600 #3 May 13, 2004 I'm in the same boat. I listen to it on the radio, but dang -- how many up-to-the-minute updates can a person deal with? It seems to encourage the making of judgements on the smallest possible amount of information. The prisoners will be just as abused in 2 days when there's been enough time to actually learn something. Iraq will be just as war-torn. Argentina's economy will not have moved appreciably in a week's time. And it's not like my opinion or action makes a damn bit of difference to any of it. DrunkMonkey 0 #4 May 13, 2004 Animal Planet and Discovery Channel: Learned about Guatemala. Learned Lemurs only come from Madagascar. Got severely annoyed at the American Chopper roid-raging father bitching at his kid. Renewed my desire to visit the rainforest, while it's still there. Learned I want to go to Suriname to go backpacking. Australia seems neat--gotta go there too. Despite all the shit going on in the world, it's business as usual in 90% of the world. quade 4 #5 May 13, 2004 Hmmm, I'm not really sure, so the answer is probably about the same as most of my adult life, which is to say, I still watch it -quite- a bit. I'm such a news junkie I usually have CNN on in the BG when most other folks would have a CD listening to music. I still have the paper delivered to my house everyday and if I can't read it at home, I usually manage to read in on my cell phone during "down time". I think I might have OCD when it comes to checking CNN on-line both on the laptop and the cell phone. I also glance at a fairly large number of other sources and I know some people aren't going to believe this but the list includes FOXNews. Then again, I'm not exactly normal.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
