wmw999 2,589 #1 April 28, 2004 I realize this sounds like a "bonfire" kind of post, but, well, first I went to a lecture at the science museum on evolution, and when and how hominids made the transition from hominid to man (probably with the cro-magnon man, who appears to have made a real leap to symbolic thought and probably language), and then I went to see a French singer.... I supposed I could have found a political rally, but hey, there are only so many hours in the day. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. wmw999 2,589 #3 April 28, 2004 Genevieve Charlot; she started out the evening introducing her songs in French then English (my -- English is a very efficient language -- it takes a lot fewer words to say the same thing!). After a while the English got more and more basic, I was feeling pretty good about my rusty French until about the 4th song; at that one, the introduction was "huh?" I had no idea what she said. But it was good; particularly a beautiful song about her daughter, composed when she got married and left the nest. nacmacfeegle 0 #8 April 28, 2004 To be honest Cronin, I'd never heard of her either, but I'm always keen to expand my horizons. The last 'French' concert I was at was in Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, Les Negresses Vertes were playing. Their accordion player was so drunk he fell off the stage. It was a quality night nevertheles.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. piisfish 140 #9 April 28, 2004 Negresses vertes are nice... Seems to be a habit for people to be drunk on stage... Johnny Hallyday in Geneva : crashed horizontally due to alcohol abuse Veronique Sanson at Paleo Festival (Nyon) was laughing at the rain, du to alcohol and white stuff up her nose Shane Mc Gowan (Iknow he's not french...) at Leysin Rock festival couldn't remember teh words of the songs, came back on stage every 2 songs with a new beer and thank god had a microphone to help him stand...scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
