High school artwork draws Secret Service attention

Recommended Posts

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,118344,00.html

I could -maybe- understand that if the artwork had been sent to The White House it would have been perceived as a threat, but this kid appears to have been simply carrying out a long term art homework assignment.

The teacher and administrators that sent this on to the Secret Service have lost their way.

Paul, clearly you're not giving credibility to Fox News are you? They're a right-wing-propaganda machine! :):o:P:D

Of course, we don't get to see the pictures, however, the AP article does quote the police chief as "...[they] were right to be concerned."

Ahhh...what do those policemen know anyways... :S
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

I posted the FOXNews version of the story to attempt to mitigate comments from the peanut gallery about whether or not reporting this story was simply an over reaction by the "left-wing media elite". ;)

In other words, I know there are some folks out there that would doubt the story from other sources.

Those poor souls that can't read a "by-line" would know that the CNN article is the same: http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/04/27/artwork.investigated.ap/index.html

Dissention is unallowable... don't you know that? Bush and his flunkies would never let this go, but if it was Kerry's head, it would have been ok, and even publicized. It is just proof that we, as Americans, don't have freedoms anymore. This is just a high-school kid expressing himself and his personal views, and is nearly arrested. Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Speach... are these things forgotten?

I think my sig line says it all...

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it.

My middle schooler mentioned once that the world would be better off without people in it. Next thing you know Mom and I are being interviewed by the principal, a counselor and a cop and my son has been classified a terrorist with his own file down at the police station.
