Bodyflight.Net 0 #53 April 19, 2004 QuoteI believe that BOTH parents should have to sign a consent in order for the procedure to take place. IF the woman doesn't know who the father is she should be prohibited from doing it until DNA testing confirms who the father is and a consent form is signed by the to be father. This is not well thought out.. first of all, I could say that ANY guy is the father..so that really won't help alone, and the very procedure that is necessary to determine DNA during pregnancy results in 1 death in every 200 tests as well as countless other risks to the health of the potential life. Oh, and as soon as you can carry the baby for us, I am more than willing to let you do that!

Ummmm I have to agree...Lemme put it this way, I wouldn't be posting this right now if my biological grandmother at the ripe old age of 16 had decided to abort my mother...so does that mean that my mom was "mostly unwanted" and so should not have been given the chance at life...... I personally am pro-life, in terms of what I would do if I was stupid enough to have unprotected sex (this excludes rape and any other extenuating circumstances). In terms of what another woman should do, well that I leave up to them, and in that way I am pro-choice...But I know of a lot of couples who were unable to have children and so chose adoption. My best friend from HS is getting married in June...I guess she was a "mostly unwanted" baby, but she was given a chance at life and has a degree in ME and getting a job at Boeing. There are countless stories of babies being adopted from teen mothers or even from 20-somethings who felt they couldn't provide a happy, healthy life for a child and so gave up that child for adoption. Keep in mind that there are couples out there who could give these "mostly unwanted" children homes and families. ~R+R~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... I was so thankful when "safe havens" were introduced. I don't think all states have adopted this though...would be great if they did. I remember there had been an unusually high number of babies left in dumpsters, in the woods, etc and a local hospital made PSA's telling women they could leave their babies with them no questions asked. I don't think another abandoned baby was found for a good long while.
 Bodyflight.Net 0 #60 April 19, 2004 QuoteScary viewpoint. Not sure if you are talking about a Mirena IUD or a copper IUD. The main mechanism of action in a copper IUD is as a spermicide. It causes phagocytosis of sperm. It also impedes sperm trasport and viability in the cervical mucus. Because of this, very few sperm ever even reach the fallopian tubes. Mirena IUD's also acts as a spermicide. Either way, the lining of the uterus is changed but this is NOT the main mechanism of action. However, on occasion, it might prevent implantation and do what you say. There are cases of implantation of an embryo with an IUD in place.
