mikkey 0 #26 April 19, 2004 QuoteThe violence by Sunni and Shia gangs has declined, mainly because so many of the gunmen have been killed ?? If I remember right about 10 US soldiers got killed this week-end and the total number since beginning of April (or was it March?) is higher then during the "major combat phase" last year. There is an uneasy truce in Fallujah, there are more then 40 foreign hostages and you can see large numbers of armed militias parading their weapons in Najaf....--------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. nbblood 0 #27 April 19, 2004 QuoteThat's because most americans care more about US soldiers getting killed than who has running water in Fallujah. I'm sure there are some activist plumbers who would rather hear about the plumbing, and that's fine - they can go to one of the many sources that list the improvements in Iraqi infrastructure for their information. It would, honestly, disgust me to see a front page spread on a new record store that opened in Fallujah and have to turn to page 23 to see that four more americans gave their lives for their country. It would be hard to imagine a US news source with such an anti-US-troops bias (although I'm sure they exist.) Agreed. All, I'm saying is that when sorting through what's screwed up and what's going well, the perspective of the news agency needs to be considered. Of course, the hotspots are going to gain the attention. Of course, Americans are more concerned about the troops than other stuff. That's the way it should be and has been. Just remember that there's a ton of stuff going right over there too. Blues, NathanBlues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
