Bin Laden offers truce

This is curious,
"The tape also condemned the US-led occupation of Iraq as a money-making scheme for companies making weapons or aiding reconstruction efforts - specifically naming the American firm Halliburton, AP said."

No real opinions on this, apart from is it real, and who does he expect to communicate with on the subject?
In the UK, there has been a tradition of not doing deals with terrorists.

What! You mean the US was left out of the offer?

I guess we've gone a little too far to be forgiven by good 'ole Osama Bin Laden -- Billvon must've been mistaken when he said we just need to stop interjecting ourselves into the wholesome Islamic "way of life" to get them to leave us alone . . . :S

Looks like we're on the OBL shit list for the long haul damn it . . . . what can we do to get back on his good side!

Osama's just pissed because he didn't have any stock options.

I just wonder how anxious our current administration would've been if they weren't in bed with Haliburton...

As much as OBL is a mass-murdering fuckhead, he does have a point with regard to Halburton.

What other companies (from countries that helped out) are there to do the work Haliburton is doing?

ok since you brought it up. I am really puzzled by the saying that the UK doesn't do deal's with Terrorists.

As I see it living here the past 6 years they don't do deals with Islamic terrorist but the whole Good Friday agreement is all about "compromise" or doing deals with Sien Fein (sp?) who just about everybody admits are connected to the Provisional IRA? What have I missed on this?

"I am really puzzled by the saying that the UK doesn't do deal's with Terrorists."

I said there was a tradition of not doing deals with terrorists. But it seems my seed of irony has fallen on stony ground.:)That tradition has waxed slightly recently with people like Qadhafi, who was a firm supporter of the PLO, and was linked to Black September, the Munich Olympics massacre, the Berlin Dioscotheque bombing, and most notoriously the Lockerbie bombing of PAN AM 103 . The Sinn Fein are the political wing of the IRA, Gerry Adams MP has long been associated with the IRA, as has the Rev Ian Paisley MP with the UDA.
Also bear in mind that Nelson Mandela spent a lot of his life in prison on terrorist charges.
Being associated with a terrorist doesn't necessarily mean you are a criminal.

It costs US$0.37 to file a protest to a contract award. None have been filed against any of the current Halliburton contracts in Iraq to my knowledge.

Still waiting on someone to tell me the role of the Pres/VP in the contracting process....(note: I know myself but ask this for pedagogical purposes to show the shallowness of the leftist argument)

I am not quite sure why you are asking me this. I was just responding to some one asking if there are any other companies that can do the work Haliburton does.

For some reason many people think that all the work done by Haliburton can only be done by Haliburton. I wonder where they got that idea?
