quade 4 #2 April 12, 2004 Did you see "Meet the Press" today? McCain -today- seems like a loyal Republican. Full support of GWB and his Iraq policy to boot. I'm starting to lose respect for the man.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

SpeedRacer 1 #4 April 12, 2004 who gives a shit about the repubs or the dems?? If they're both to some extent full of shit...then fuck' em and vote on the issues. why is it laudable to be a ditto-head for either party if they're both full of shit?? Why is it more laudable to be a loyal ditto-head (left or right) than to just try to vote for the candidate who sucks the least? quade 4 #6 April 12, 2004 Quote because he's acting republican, or because he's flopping like a hooked fish? I'm losing respect for the man for a little of both reasons. I like McCain. I really do. Given the chance, I would have voted him into the Oval Office a few years ago. Not because he was acting like a Democrat or a Republican, but because he was acting on his own convictions, speaking his own mind no matter how unpopular with the established powers. I like that. I lose respect for people when they simply become toadies of those holding the big stick. Don't get me wrong, if you -really- feel the way the leadership does -- go for it. I'll disagree with you, but if you're consistant, I'll also have a certain respect for your views. I'll respect you even -more- if you have your own views and stick to those. So, in a way, I actually do have a certain respect for GWB -- however much I also think he's wrong. If you sway with the breeze, perhaps you should be left swinging in the wind.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Kennedy 0 #8 April 12, 2004 What if they get elected by hanging on the coattails of leadership, campaign on one thing then vote another way? quade 4 #9 April 12, 2004 Wait a minute. Find where I said I have respect for Kerry. I -may- have said that I respect his actual service in Viet Nam, which, by most accounts was honorable. I -may- vote for him simply because he seems more like a President I would want than the man currently in the Oval Office. I wanted a leader. I wanted a different guy altogether.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
DrunkMonkey 0 #10 April 12, 2004 He's not more Dem than most Dems, he's just not a GOP drone who walks the Kim Jong-Il-like party line that King George the Lesser delineates... God forbid he think for himself...
Kennedy 0 #11 April 12, 2004 Let's see: voted to close a non existant gun show loophole? check voted to kill worthwhile defense spending? check voted for the incumbent protection scheme known known as campaign finance reform? check "Patient's Bill of Rights" that helps lawyers and not patients? supports internet taxation? voted against a kyoto-like treaty, then criticized Bush for not bowing to Kyoto? check, check, and check is bashing the Pres one minute and supporting him the next, depending on what's more popular? check is criticizing the entire GOP party on stances? check Charles Keating, Joe Bananas, Don Bolles, the man has more zipper issues than Clinton.... do you really want me to go on? Quote"I believe my party has gone astray,'' McCain said, criticizing GOP stands on environmental and minority issues. "I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy,'' he said.
