rickjump1 0 #1 April 7, 2004 What are your thoughts? I had no knowledge of this book until a month ago. It has shaken me up and changed my life. I only hope I can follow through with the wisdom I found in this book.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
chuteless 1 #2 April 7, 2004 Its hard to comment on a book of which you have only provided the title. If the book is suggesting that materialism and greed are satisfactory incentives to be driven, then the book is wrong.....I said IF, because you havent elaborated on its contents. GARYC24 3 #4 April 7, 2004 I got the book from church series being the main topic. Got about a 1/4 way through. Will have to start at page one again.. "Today the average life span is 25,550 days" I need a calculator! har har Rick Warren is a "okay" guy! I'll have to visit his church sometime.
rickjump1 0 #5 April 7, 2004 Bill, It's nothing about greed. It's about why you are here(not a me thing either). Rick Warren, the author wrote this book for all of us; no selfish motives. His popularity should not put you off. Ideally it should be read and then discussed in groups (hard for me at first). You can find it at Walmart or order it off "The Purpose Driven" web site. Don't let this website put you off in a commercial way before you see the book. Others can explain it better. Rick FergusonDo your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. Michele 1 #6 April 7, 2004 I gave that to my brother for Christmas, with the codicil that I get to read it when he's done. February, his church did an entire month's study on it, and he says I can borrow it when he's done.... He makes me laugh...I'm not sure he will ever be "done". I look forward to reading it. Kennedy 0 #7 April 8, 2004 I saw some woman reading it when I was sitting in firestone waiting for the oil change/alilgnment/rotation. I hope it helps her, because she looked pissed at the world. Taylor610 0 #8 April 8, 2004 We are currently doing a study course on it in Sunday School. It has wonderful directives and is scripture based. It encourages a God led life and the book has a few study guides including journal, with scriptures, that one can purchase to help them with their individual thoughts. It is designed as a 40 day (which has significance Biblically) program. I have enjoyed the book and program.

Taylor610 0 #12 April 8, 2004 I think that either the 2cd or third chapter of the book is dedicated to "You are not an accident and you have a purpose".It is easy reading that generates a wonderful thought process.
rickjump1 0 #13 April 9, 2004 I'm in the twilight in my life and sometimes I lay on my back and try to experience the pain of having large steel nails hammered through each wrist and crossed legs. I try understand the suffering my Christ endured for my benefit. I try to think of all the mental and physical pain I've suffered and realize these were little tests to make me a better person to serve him who suffered the most.I only hope I can measure up. Man, sometimes I wish I could go back and start over and then I remember forgiveness. I bought a copy for my wife and oldest daughter so that we could go through it together. And remember, He WILL restore the years the locusts have taken away.
