Not that I passionately agreed with the oponnents reasons, but the arguments pro- joining were even less convincing, and I found the servile attitude of our politicians towards certain western institutions and countries sickening. PhillyKev 0 #5 March 30, 2004 Allies are good, but I think this will have a weakening effect overall on NATO. They need to restructure their by-laws. Problem is all action requires a consensus of all members. The more that are added, the less likely they'll ever get anything done. On the other hand, it will be clear when they do take action that everyone agrees that what they are doing is the right thing. Gawain 0 #9 March 30, 2004 In a pure political realm, you are correct. In fact, you point out one of the things that cripples the UN on a regular basis (the US does it, sure but we aren't alone). As to NATO, since its focus is a military alliance, it's pretty difficult to deny certain things (i.e. an attack on one, is an attack on all).
