Officers from seven agencies chased a truck driver from Tucson to Phoenix early Monday, but it was a plucky robot that made the bust, snaring the key from the ignition as the driver hid in the sleeping compartment.

The 84-mile chase began after midnight, when a state Department of Public Safety officer noticed an 18-wheeler speeding on Ina Road in Tucson. The officer gave chase, but Mike Mosley, 36, a driver for East Coast Furniture Carriers from North Carolina, entered Interstate 10 and drove west. At times the truck reached speeds of 100 mph, according to Officer Frank Valenzuela, DPS spokesman.

"There was traffic on the CB that officers monitored - and they believe it came from the driver of this truck - stating that if police continued to try to stop him he would take out an officer or citizen," he said.

Officers in Casa Grande and Eloy set up "stop sticks," but Mosley drove on despite damaged tires until exiting at Maricopa Road just south of Phoenix, Valenzuela said.

Two DPS helicopters hovered and officers from the sheriffs' offices of Pinal and Maricopa counties; Gila River and Chandler police departments converged on the truck.

"He came to a stop, barricaded himself in the vehicle, went into the sleeper cabin and closed the curtains," Valenzuela said.

The DPS robot opened the truck's door and turned off the ignition.

"It was amazing; I didn't think it could do that," Valenzuela said.

As the robot held the door, officers used chemical spray to induce the driver to surrender. Mosley was booked into Madison Street Jail on suspicion of driving while impaired.

AKA Felony Endangerment

Throw in the Actus Reus of the threat, which correlates the Mens Rea to define attempted murder.

I'll never understand why people try to outrun the police when they're being chased. I find it rather difficult to believe there could be any hope of getting away once they're on your tail, especially in a tractor trailer!

So they're less of a person then the other half, not worthy, eh?

What is your explanation for stupid behavior then? That he was really smart but misunderstood? Had a bad childhood?

Sometimes people fuck up. Especially in a higher stress situation. Its not necissarily their IQ at work. We have no clue what else had happened in his life that may have caused this situation to happen and simply blaming it on IQ is a cop out.

If that was the case, then how is it possible that anyone with a lower then average IQ is productive in society?

Hell, since you think that lower then average IQs make people do things that are detrimental to society, why doesn't the government round them all up and take them out of society? Wouldn't that make our society a better place overall? I only ask since you seem to believe that those with a lower then average IQ will behave in a "stupid" manner.

I think there was an Austrian a while back that had a similar idea...

Because with the way IQ is measured, as soon as you did that, half of the remaining people would have a below-100 IQ - and you're right back where you started! (but with less people.)

While it's certainly not a given, stupid people are somewhat more likely to do stupid things. Amy has seen quite a few injuries come into the ER that are attributable to NEARS syndrome.

Nope.

You missed the point.

The point was that it is incredibly elitist to state that lower then average people will do things like this. Intelligent people fuck up as well.

I'm not saying that this guy didn't act like an idiot, far from it infact, just pointing out how "elitest liberal" the comments were.

Yes. That's why I'm starting my own country. They do stupid things and annoy me.
