embedev.io 0 #1 September 29, 2015 Hi, currently jumping an old PF Electra, i'm looking for a new canopy for next season. My WL on that canopy is around 1.23 lb/sqft (exit weight ~205lb, 170sqft canopy). I'm looking for a 150sqft canopy, i will be loading it at 1.36 lb/sqft. My profile : ~400 jumps, and around 150/year I want : - a fun canopy - reactive canopy on harness / toggle / riser inputs - more speed on landings - something not too extreme What should i consider in the PD range, Aerodyne Range, and Icarus range ? Best would be PD models, easily triable in PD Demo Tours in Europe. After some researches, i noted : - PD Sabre 2 - PD Stiletto - Icarus Safire 2 - Aerodyne Pilot I excluded : - Aerodyne Zulu (seems to require higher wingload) - Icarus Crossfire 2 (seems to require higher wingload) Should i consider : - PD Storm (7cell) - PD Spectre (7cell) Will a 7-cell fit my requirements about fun / some speed on landings, ... ? Thanks for your feedbacks.
Unstable 9 #2 September 29, 2015 QuoteI want : - a fun canopy - reactive canopy on harness / toggle / riser inputs - more speed on landings - something not too extreme Click Here For what you are looking for, consider a Firebolt by Parachute Labs. Fantastic all-around canopy, dreamy openings, and it has the performance envelope to land fast or slow. I upgraded to a Firebolt 160 after ~900 jumps on a Sabre2 150, and I find the Firebolt to fit a niche in performance, openings, and pack volume (Hybrid design).=========Shaun ==========
virgin-burner 1 #3 September 29, 2015 find one of the bigger boogies, jump your selection, decide. for what it's worth, i jump a safire2, VERY pleased with the customer service i've received (sent it in after 4yrs of ownership, got it fixed, new t-shirt, free of charge) and it's a nicely opening, fun canopy. very likely, i'll keep on jumping it until i give up the sport. at least until the crossfire3 comes out! nzaerosports is a great small company! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. monkycndo 0 #4 September 29, 2015 Try Nitro or Nitron. At a 1.4 wingloading, it is starting to get zippy. Soft openings and great flare.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
lyosha 50 #5 September 29, 2015 virgin-burnerfind one of the bigger boogies, jump your selection, decide. This. Also, if you exclude crossfire and zulu, perhaps it is best to leave stiletto out as well. Try one of the big 3 - Sabre2, Safire2, Pilot in a size lower. Don't get a Firebolt unless you jump a racer. ;)
embedev.io 0 #6 September 30, 2015 Thanks, i will try to test Sabre2/Safire2/Pilot and choose the one that's best for me. I want to keep Crossfire/Zulu and Stiletto for 120/135 size with a better wingload in the future ! For the Sabre2 / Safire2 / Pilot, do you know which one is known to pack smaller ? I'd imagine it'll be the Pilot when made with the zpx material.Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic). Dokeman 0 #8 October 3, 2015 I love my firebolt. I have a 164. It's the same class as sabre 2's and sapphire 2's. Packs super easy
Anachronist 2 #9 October 3, 2015 I can second the Firebolt and Saber2. The Pilot is very tame, I've jumped a 168 at a 1.5 WL and could barely make it turn with harness input. I love the canopy, just doesn't sound what you are looking for. Remember not to change size and canopy type at the same time ;) Demo 170's first.
