Wingsuit Damage Question

Recommended Posts

I have a wingsuit with some slight zipper damage caused by the main lift web. Only the thread of of the zipper has come of the seam but the rest of the zipper is still attached. My guess is it was caused by friction and stress put on the suit by the main lift web. My question is have any of you seen this type of damage before? Is it structurally compromising to the suit? and what are my repair options.

I have attached a picture if you are curious what it looks like.
Its a phoenix-fly phantom 2 with relatively low jump numbers on it.
I would definitely greatly appreciate any help with this problem.

You are going to have to replace the entire zipper.
When you replace the zipper, you should also sew on a strap - with a snap. The strap will reduce the load on the end of the zipper.

How do I say this without hurting your feelings?
You are too well-nourished for that suit.

I had the same issue with my Havok.

Send it back to PF. They will open up the front MLW slot in order to prevent the MLW from continuing to rub against the zipper. They will also replace the zippers for you.

Mine was done pretty quickly. I was impressed with their service.

Unsewing does take most of the time. Another option is to just cut off the exposed portion of the zipper and sew the new zipper right over the remaining tape of the original. If you use the same width of zipper. it makes it easy to sew on by just aligning the edge of the two tapes. You will see both sets of stitching. If the thread color and stitch length matches, you might not even notice.
