lazerq3 0 #1 March 12, 2001 Went to the local DZ sat to get scheduled for AFF and my level 2 tandem. They just opened on the 10th and when I walked in the lady said "so do you want to jump today and get your level 2 complete so you can start AFF" GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY I didnt expect to jump right then but said give me 20 min to go home and get my money!!! Came aback went through my T2 training and upp we went. 10,000 ft later, front flip out, alt chk, PRCP, track 3sec, altc chk, counterturns lft/rht, alt chk, all monuvers completed by 6700 ft, flash 5-5 and then trouble, reached for RC and found then teather it was attached to but know handle fumbled for a sec then looked for it and altchk (4500) Saw it flpapping around on teather and as I reached for it the TM helped me get my hand on it and POP smooth opening. TM said jump was very nice all exercises completed with great alt awarness and know problem exect for a TM assisted pull. And I must say TRACKING KICKS ASS that was the coolest feeling to just dip down and swooooooooooosh!!!!!! Any way jsut thought I'd share. I'm just so stoked that after all this time its finally happening!!jason

windchill 0 #5 March 12, 2001 U guys still waiting to get started (omri, helllian) HANG IN THere!!!I waited 1 1/2 years from my first tandem untill starting my course and it was agony. All i could think about 24hours a day was that course, wishing away the days until it started and WOW it was worth every miserable day. Money was the main factor for me as I was still in school at the time of my tandem, so i know how u must feel. Cherry-pies Edited by windchill on 3/12/01 08:12 AM. lazerq3 0 #11 March 12, 2001 Yeah they gave me the jump sequence on a piece of paper and said go through this in your head for a bit and then they had me practice it on the creeper with the TM. He did ssay however if we dont get through any of the excersises to at least do your PRCP and keep alt awareness!! But everything came out smooth. So I take it Tandems dont track?? Is this somewhat riskyjason
Stacy 0 #12 March 12, 2001 forward motion is sometimes referred to as tracking in student jumps from what I've noticed. I could be wrong on this, but it's been my observation. Maybe this is because the *ideal* track is flat and forward in nature... I wouldn't think that a tandem would do a diving track, but maybe I'm wrong. Just my .02... =c)Blue Ones! lazerq3 0 #13 March 12, 2001 Well, maybe I'm not sure of the true def of a track but what they had me do was bring my arms in and stick my legs out and sure enough I felt us tip forward and go!!!! for a count of 3 and then back to boxman. Did I maybe pick a crazy TM to jump with??? :)
Stacy 0 #14 March 12, 2001 sounds like a track to me... a brave TM you had there!! =c)Stacyhttp://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

Dutchboy 0 #18 March 13, 2001 Quoteforward motion is sometimes referred to as tracking in student jumps from what I've noticed. At my DZ they teach forward movement on T3 and tracking on T4. Forward movement is moving forward in a somewhat slower controlled manner such as trying to get into a formation. Tracking is the full blown delta and normally you have your head further down and arms back. When you want to seperate from a formation you will increase horizontal distance if you flat track instead of doing a downward delta. The reason for this is you have more time for your horizontal speed to move you away if you aren't flying at a 45 degree down angle.

Cherry-pies I do hope it's worth it, but i am guessing it is, from the responses of people like... froggie and lazerq when they do their jumps, wow, sounds like a blast!!A question i have though, people talk about T3 and T4. I thought with AFF or variations you either do one or two tandems then the course? or is there another slight variation... along this line if i become qualified with a BPA A lisence, will i have any troubles jumping @ USPA DZ's?Ed

In the Tandem progression there are four tandems and then four instructor assisted freefall (IAF) levels. So I did T1-T4, and IAF5-IAF8.You should have no problems jumping in the USA with a British license. Just make sure you can speak English in addition to the British you normally speak.
