Albatross 0 #1 March 20, 2001 Do any of you have experience with the canopy control school I was hearing about at Lake Elsinor? What do they teach and is it worth the money?Blue Skys and Safe LandingsAlbatross
freaksister 0 #2 March 20, 2001 I am glad you asked this question! As some of you may remember I am big on canopy control...well I don't feel like mine is good enough. I certainly need to brush up on accuracy. I decided yesterday that I am doing a canopy course for sure, for real, this spring. I have been talking about it for months but it hasn't worked out. Well, I am MAKING it work now. I considered getting some good accuracy jumpers at local DZs to help me, but I thought, if I have to cool, but if I can, get a real canopy control course. I am thinking, April or May would be a great time to do it. I was trying to decide where to go. The only places that I know of which do it are Deland and Elsinore. Marana AZ does it but only a couple times a year I think. So I am also requesting input from those who have used Elsinore's program, because from what I understand it is fairly new. Deland's is proven I am sure. You know what else kind of bugs me? I jump at a big DZ, with great facilites, it is a SDU campus, with Rob Laidlaw on site, and yet we don't have a canopy control program. This is something I would like to see at more DZs. It is inconvenient to have to fly 1200+ miles to do a ccc. My $.02Sis
grasshopper 0 #3 March 20, 2001 the canopy school will help you with whatever you need/want help with. at elsinore, they can help you just try to get stand-up landings, or whatever you need. for me, I got 2 coached jumps and was focusing on swooping, because that is where my skill level is at. it is worth every penny they charge.pull low, it's higher than you think. fruce 0 #4 March 20, 2001 If you are referring to the “Evolution” canopy school, then I would highly recommend your participation. The school has been formed by some of the top canopy pilots in our sport. They not only know how to fly their canopies to the performance limit, they know how to fly them safely as well. You will be learning from the very best our sport has to offer. Peace, fruce & friends

Hey Sis -- e-mail me about this. There's a guy out there who teaches canopy control, but not through the school. I'm going to do it this spring when it gets warmer.
