San Diego DZ

Recommended Posts

Philip,
I was in San Diego last November and decided to get a few jumps in. I went to Air Adventures Skydiving at Brown Field Airport. It was only about 15-20 minutes away and I had a great time. Very nice people - and no sky gods! Wish I could have stayed longer. One odd thing for me though, you boarded the plane near manifest and then landed out in a desert-like area and a bus took us back. Not bad, just different. And a beautiful view of the shore from altitude. Enjoy yourself! Cheers!

I personally wouldn't go to brown field only because they require a cypres. I have heard nice things about the place, but I feel mandatory cypres is infringing on my freedom (even though I have a cypres). elsinore and perris are about 60 miles from SD and both have nice facilities.
pull low, it's higher than you think

I would assume they do that based on the proximity of Brown Field to the border.. If you were landing on the DZ, and landed 1/2 mile south, you'd be in Mexico.. If you landed at the airport about a mile south of Brown Field - which has an East/West runway just like Brown Field - you would be at Tiajuana International..

OK,
I'll be the one to break the news to everybody. I jump in San Diego so here goes. Grasshopper, no more DZ bashing or else I'll have to come up to El-Snore and beat you. Just kidding... But I digress... The DZ has finally moved out to Otay, just to the east side of the lake. You now take off and land in the same area and have no need to take a bus ride back to manifest. If you have any questions drop me a note and I'll be glad to help you out. The DZ is also supposed to be getting a super otter beginning in April. Hope this helps you out.
