Cacophony 0 #5 March 25, 2001 Does it ever!! It really does make a huge difference. My new Vector 3 rocks all. Just thought I would throw that in there.Safe landings,Alex D-23912
Geoff 0 #6 March 25, 2001 Do you thiink the chest rings add much rather than just the hip rings? Mirages only have hip rings (or did when I got mine last year).CheersGeoff
Aviatrr 0 #7 March 25, 2001 Quote Do you thiink the chest rings add much rather than just the hip rings? Mirages only have hip rings (or did when I got mine last year). Mirage does not offer a fully articulated harness. From the few jumps that I do have on a fully articulated Talon 2, the chest rings do make a bit of a difference. For belly flying, I saw no real difference with chest rings - but for some of the body positions in freeflying they seem to help a bit. I jump a Talon 2 with hip rings, so I was comparing identical rigs with the only difference being the chest rings. More than likely, my next rig will be a Rigging Innovations Voodoo. If Mirage offers a fully articulated harness at that point, that will be a consideration as well.I definitely like what Mirage plans on doing in the near future(or so I read not long ago) with container sizes. They are going to build containers for small mains and larger reserves. Something along the lines of a ZP120 main with a 143 or 160 reserve. I believe another one is for sub 100sqft ZP mains and 126 reserve. Great for the people that want a small main and don't want to have to go to a corresponding size reserve. Loading a high performance elliptical at 2.0 is one thing - a reserve is quite another. I hope other manufacturers follow suit. Reflex has been doing this for years - except they build a container to hold whatever sizes the jumper wants. Mike
Dutchboy 0 #8 March 26, 2001 Just a note on the fully articulated harnesses. One of the teams at my DZ uses fully articulated Javelins and they are always checking their reserve handles. It seems that the space between the rings is small enough that the reserve handles tend to work themselves out.
mattb 0 #9 March 26, 2001 Articulated harnesses are a lot more comfortable. They may let you move around more in freefall (I'm not good enough to notice yet) but more importantly you are more comfotable in the plane and under canopy. If you are buying new, it is well worth the $$$.my two cents,-mb
SkySlut 0 #10 March 26, 2001 Yep, if you can get the rings...they are way more comfortable and allow you to move more freely. The only thing that I have noticed with chest rings is that you need to loosen the chest strap a bit while you are under canopy to get comfortable. Worth the money though..."I'll jump anything!" skybytch 273 #11 March 27, 2001 Yup, get the rings. I've only jumped standard harnesses and my hip ring only Reflex and I will NEVER go back to a standard harness. I haven't jumped a rig with chest rings but I can tell you that the hip rings alone add so much flexibility and comfort to the harness... well worth every extra dollar imho.pull and flare, lisa
