Where to do anAFF in the states

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I'm from London and I'm looking to do an AFF in the US of A in the next few weeks. I've been looking into
this for a while now but all the sites look much of a muchness really. The factors that'll influence me most will be:
1) Weather - After all that travelling sunshine is a definate.
2) Driving - Or rather inability to do so. So, it'll need to be close to a major airport.
3) Price - Not too bothered alhough I'd like to get the entire jump/accom in for under £1000 (whatever that is in dollars).
Thanks in advance for any help forwarded.
Cheers
Jez

As far as weather goes, I'd think Skydive Arizona would be a good bet. Don't know where it is relative to any major airports though.
I'd offer some of the California & Florida DZs, but I don't know if their weather is as consistently nice as Arizona's.
Whatever you do, don't come to Houston. The weather here has been psychotic lately. :P

£1000 will pay for your flight, your AFF AND your accomodation at Citrusdal in South Africa!!!
Don't believe me? Check out the flight prices and AFF price (10 jumps inc. 2 consolidation jumps) on-line. The level of instruction and facilities are world class, and the weather is ideal in March/April.

Skydive Deland is about 20 minutes away from the Volusia County Airport in Florida. The airport is not a major one but it isn't super small either. The weather is sunny most of the time with an occasionaly overcast in the afternoon but that still leaves you plenty of good time in the mornings to jump as they have a full load ready to go in Deland by 8 a.m. I don't have any suggestions in any other state b/c I have only jumped in Florida but in Florida, as far as proximity to an airport, I'd say Deland is your best bet.
Much love and blue skies,

Weather wise Zennie is correct, Eloy has the most consistent weather…. You just don’t want to be there in the summer. Although they are not close to the airiport (Phoenix), they may have a shuttle that will come and pick you up. Eloy entertains allot of European and Asian jumpers, so they are used to that type of request.
Flying into Orlando, West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale etc. in Florida will give you a choice of about 6 (or more) different DZ’s. One of them will be willing to come pick you up at the airport.

I may be a bit biased here, I went through AFF at Eloy. I agree with others here, go to Eloy. The instructors and jump masters there are first rate, the weather is great, and I believe they do have a shuttle service from the airport in Phoenix. I would suggest, if you are serious, go to www.skydiveaz.com. There is information on services (shuttle etc), classes, rates and any additional information you may need.
Blue ones!!! see ya at Eloy!!
