Deleted 0 #1 March 31, 2001 Hi everyone!I'm in Vegas, and the Alladin hotel rocks-free internet access! I'm waiting for my husband to come back from a meeting, so I thought I 'd tell you about the neat thing that happened on the plane ride over here.I'm sitting on the plane bored, and thinking that that riding in a plane isn't as much fun when you can't jump out of it. I look 2 aisles up, and I can see a man reading a book, and there's a black and white picture on the page of a skydivier. Judging by the size of the book, I think, that's The Skydiving Handbook! My mood perks up and I'm quickly out in the aisle to chat with him, annoying the flight attendants along the way.Come to find out, he jumped in the military, and also has done jumps with his sons. But recently he had a pretty bad skydiving accident where he broke his hand/wrist pretty badly (the scars were pretty big). He is at the point where I had been for the last few months, wanting to go back, but not knowing if he should or could. I told him my story, and told him how awesome you all are, and how your enthusiasm really helped me in my decision to come back, and how supportive you all have been since I did. I told him to check us out. So, W.T., when you come back from vacation, if you're out there, let us know! That made my day, but I've been really thinking of what a small world it is. We came from different states to be on that flight, and really, there aren't THAT many skydivers in the world where you just run into them all over the place. Plus, the fact that we both had been in the same mindset recently..it was very cool! What do you think-was it fate?
wingnut 0 #2 March 31, 2001 cool story, the worls is really alot smaller than we think. i happen to work with a guy that when not in the military is from like 45 minutes away from where i live, and we have to meet all the way over here in germany 4,000 miles away. it wasn't fate, just coincidence. there is no fate, we make everything that happens to us happen.(besides a meteor falling from the sky and hitting us on the head) you just happened to be very observant, and in the right place at the right time to meet this single person....wait a minute this is starting to sound like fate, maybe i'll change my mind on the whole fate thing.......well you also can't leave us out on the details of your trip. have you won enough to buy that new rig? or did you lose several months of jump tickets......it's not to late, hit those blackjack tables now, and the slots when ya pass by em! :-)......i can't wait untill august.....i turn 21 and a week later i'll be in vegas to win me a new rig........or loose it all......:-)....to bad i have to work while i'm there.....<>
Deleted 0 #3 March 31, 2001 Speaking of a small world, here is an "are you out there" request, and I have been wanting to do this for sometime and this thread seems to be the perfect place for it...Before I did my first tandem, over 6 years ago, I had a good mate in j.c. that skydived. I guess you could credit her with my initial interest, but anyway, her husband had gone out on westpac shortly after they married and she and I became really good mates during his absense (she called me her "surrogate husband" (and don't go there guys and gals, it wasn't like that!!)). Long story, even longer, I was just wondering if ANYONE on the forum has ANY clue as to whether or not they jump with this person. She may have given it up, but I highly doubt. So if there is a woman named Collette at your dropzone, could you find out if she went to Mesa j.c. in San Diego around 1995-6 (and who's life fits the previous description...husband(possibly ex) in the Navy during that time). If so, could you drop her a hint to check out this thread on the forum and get in touch with me.I think that would be cool!! Anyway, thanks for your help in advance!Cheers,Arohanui,BNZPF A-2584
