Albatross 0 #1 April 2, 2001 I finally got my new rig. Brand new Javelin, Spectre 170 and PD160R. It fit so great and looked better than I had hoped for (I didn't get to pick the colors). Then I flew it for the first time. It was like going from athe family station wagon to a Porshe. I surfed all my landings and finally understood why people love to fly the canopy. It was so great the canopy ride not just a way down for the next jump but rather a whole new adventure. What was your first jump with your new rig like? wingnut 0 #2 April 2, 2001 well my first rig the canopy ride was awsome. i got to land in the non-student area and it was awsome. this was under a pd 210! my rig that i'm building now is a racer( as is the old one) and i just got a saber 150 for it (need to reline it though) and i'm going to get a tempo 170 for the reserve. that first jump is going to rock....just need to find some smaller canopies to jump to work my way down to it!glad your having a blast...just be carefull...i know i am.<>
Anonymous 0 #3 April 2, 2001 Hi wingiI'll be in the same situation as you in about 3 months. I am jumping a mammoth cruiselite '220 (but it's my first rig, so i love it) and will be looking to downsize in about 4 months (at least another 80 jumps). How are you going to work your way down from a 210 to a 150? You said you would find some smaller canopies. Does that mean get some jumps on demos? I am really curious how you downsize since I will be doing the same. Will
Grogs 0 #4 April 2, 2001 Assuming you're a fairly light guy, you shouldn't have too much trouble working your way down. My last canopy was a PD-230, and I moved down from that to a Silhouette-170. I had jupmed a few times on a 190 as a student, so I knew it wasn't too radical of a change. Go to something in the 1.1-1.2 range, and demo it a few times, preferably on a moderate wind day at first, and then try it again on a no wind day. Be prepared to PLF it, and if possible, get someone to watch you and critique your landing, or even better video tape it. If you can land that with no problem on a no-wind day, you're probably safe to move down to the next canopy size.

Slowfaller 0 #6 April 2, 2001 It wont be too hard to downgrade to a 150. I went from a slightly eliptacal 190 ( safire ) and that was on a Saturday, by my third jump on Sunday i was down to a 150. Just got off student status and am going to jump a stelleto 150 or safire 135. BE SAFEcold skies, blue beerchris
