what42 0 #1 April 5, 2001 Are there any windtunnels in Georgia? Specifically in the Atlanta area. I'm probably going to be doing my AFF soon and since I'm a poor College Student can't afford to re-do too many levels. I'd prefer to get a little practice in a windtunnel instead of having to shell out another 150 somewhere along the way. Also, anyone have any opinions on using long-term credit card debt to finance AFF and first rig? It's either that or put off learning to skydive for a year and a half. Thanks.Wesley--I want to fly! skydognz 0 #2 April 5, 2001 Hey groover, unfortunately I'm a New Zealand skydiver, with very little information on wind tunnels in the States, though I've been doing some research into building my own one here in NZ. As for financing your jumping!..well..who isn't in debt with finance companies for jumping!..Ha ha. I am. I just asked for money, and since I had a job - for repaying the loan - they gave me the money!..all the best dude, and get jumpin!...Stitch. New Zealand. Grogs 0 #3 April 5, 2001 I've never heard of one around there. To the best of my knowledge, there are only 3 permanent ones in the US: Pigeon Forge, TN; Las Vegas, NV; and Orlando, FL. So none of them are really close to you, but you're not too bad off. I think the one in Pigeon Forge is probably a bit closer to Atlanta, but from everything I've heard the one in Florida is much better (designed for skydivers rather than tourists) so that would be my recommendation. I remember going once to the one in Pigeon Forge about 6-7 years ago when I was in High School. I don't know if it'd be worth the drive to go all the way out there from Athens though. Yooper 0 #5 April 5, 2001 I think the closest wind tunnel to you is in tennesee. I can't remember the name of the town, but I was there about a year ago. Sorry can't be more help. Oh, one more thing, DON'T PUT OFF LEARNING TO SKYDIVE!! DO IT NOW!! You can always declare bankrupcy.
cyberskydive 0 #6 April 5, 2001 Yup Pigeon Forge is the closest bro. Lots of us at Monroe have been there and a few of us go there regularly, but usually during the winter. From Athens you just hit 441 all the way up pretty much, not to bad of a drive if your gonna get some quality tunnel time. Are you who I think you are? Have we met before? You have been out to Monroe before right?D.Chisolm C-28534webmaster@sunraydesigns.comhttp://www.sunraydesigns.com
what42 0 #7 April 5, 2001 No, I'm not who you think. I haven't been out there yet. I drove out the other day but by the time I got there the weather was nasty so I left without even going in. Monroe is where I'm planning to jump though. I've heard good things about the DZ there.Wesley--I want to fly!

ColdDuck 0 #9 April 5, 2001 I am also a college student and I am also trying to balance money for school, truck, and skydiving. So far I have not gotten into debt fo any of them yet. But the way I see if what if this is my only chance to skydive in my lifetime. I will have the rest of my shitty life to pay off my debt.My new VISA should be here any day now. what42 0 #10 April 5, 2001 Quote My new VISA should be here any day now. I just applied for another credit card yesterday. I'm going to look into getting a regular loan instead but I think I'm willing to do credit cards if I can't get a loan of some kind.--I want to fly! Dutchboy 0 #11 April 5, 2001 No wind tunnels in Atlanta yet. Although I've been talking with some of my friends about it. As soon as we scrape up $2 million we'll get right on it. I've been to Pigeon Forge a couple of times. It really isn't that far. It helped me get over a hurdle in my training.Looks like we've got yet another Georgia skydiver online here. Monroe is definitely the closest decent DZ to you. I normally jump in Thomaston at Skydive Atlanta, but will probably try to come out that way for the spring fling.Welcome to our cyber world.
