i just called a few places to see if i could demo some mains. PD didnt seem to have a problem with availability but icarus...wow theygot a long witing list. so if you're plannign on demoing some stuff, get your name on the list now.

You're not kidding! My hubby got on the list for a Crossfire 169...get this - 7 months wait! He did get a Diablo demo from Precision in 2 weeks though, and when I called PD a few months ago about a Spectre demo it was only like 4 weeks or something.

hey, anyone have any idea how long the list is for a cobalt? It tried to get their demo request form from their website, but I can't download anything with Webtv.

You might try calling some of the other nearby dropzones, even if it means a few hours drive some weekend to check it out. A lot of times the DZO/Rigger/etc at the fairly large dropzones will be an authorized rep for the canopy manufacturers and have one or two demo canopies on hand. I know my DZ does this with Cobalts, Icarus (I believe), and PD. I realized this last weekend when I was mentioning getting a smaller container and my rigger offered to hook the demo Cobalt-150 he had in his shed into mine. Oh, and as for the cobalts, I haven't jumped one yet, but we got the first person jumping one on our DZ sometime around December, and now we've got at least 5, maybe 6 at our DZ of only about 30 full time jumpers (at least in the Winter) so that tells me something.

Come to Perris... if I remember right Sq.1 has some Crossfire demos available and I know they have Safire demos available. I could be wrong about the Crossfires though (it's rare, but it does happen...) so you might want to give them a call at the store on the dz - 909.657.3858 - to find out for sure. The demo canopies get used pretty regularly on the dz so they won't send one out to you, but you can jump outta Otters and a Skyvan while you're checking out a number of different canopies/sizes...

Cool.. I'm gonna be out that way in a month or so, visiting the family.. I was planning on meeting some friends at Elsinore, but if Perris has Crossfire demos, they'll be my first stop.. I'll give 'em a call today to find out..
