Cacophony 0 #1 April 11, 2001 What do you guys think? They obviously don't know anything about what they are talking about. They just use the "too many variables" excuse to cover up their own stupidity. Its obviously not cloudy and raining today where I am and that exactly what they said it would be. Maybe I should go to school and become a meteorologist because then I could just sit around and look at a radar screen and then tell people whatever I want and expect them to believe it. After all, even if I am wrong, its not my fault because the weather has too many variables to even predict it at all.Safe landings,Alex D-23912
flyboy62000 0 #2 April 11, 2001 Yeah, I never trust the weather people, especially the ones on TV. They just take the forecast from the National Weather Service and put some cool pictures to it anyway. I can predict the weather just as good as they using a surface analysis chart, winds aloft chart, and a little intuition. I think they need to go back to school and learn a little bit about weather.Blue Skies,Adam
PLFXpert 0 #3 April 11, 2001 He he he....the weather man in the area where my b/f lives we watch in the mornings before we head to the DZ (despite what it says, we always go anyways just in case) well, he predicted a beautiful sunny day so we were stoked. By the time we'd gotton to the DZ (around 10 a.m) it was royally overcast ALL DAY. We saw him in the grocery store later that evening and we passed by him as my b/f said "beautiful, sunny day today, huh?"....it was funnyMuch love and blue skies,Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
Cacophony 0 #4 April 11, 2001 Hahaha!! Thats awesome. I once saw Rich Appuso (weatherman in cincinnati) at the restaurant I used to work at. I was gonna say something but I chickened out. It probably would have been rude but then again, think of all the gas I wasted by driving 120 miles round trip with no jumps due to clouds.Safe landings,Alex D-23912
Dirtsucks 0 #5 April 12, 2001 From my local weatherdude:After the heaviest rain moves out of the metro area overnight, winds are expected to gust strongly on Thursday as showers continue through the day. Grote said that the amount of rain that has fallen has changed expected flood crest levels throughout the state. With more rain in the forecast for the Twin Cities, crest date predictions in the metro area have been revised: The Minnesota River in Mankato is expected to crest April 19 at 10 to 11 feet above flood level. In Henderson, the river is expected to crest April 19 at 9.5 feet above flood stage. In Jordan, the crest is expected on April 20 at 17 feet above flood stage. In Shakopee, the Minnesota River crest is expected April 21 at 17 feet above flood stage. In Savage, the river's crest is also predicted for April 21 at 16 to 17 feet above flood stage. The Mississippi River is expected to crest in Anoka on April 18 at 1 to 2 feet above flood stage. The river is expected to crest in Minneapolis on April 18 as well, also at 1 to 2 feet above flood stage. In St. Paul, the Mississippi River is expected to crest April 21 at 9 to 10 feet above flood stage. The sun is expected to finally make an appearance on Friday as highs continue to in the mid-50s, but overnight lows push down into the mid-30s. There is more rain possible both Saturday and Sunday.I live in the middle of flood central. 'Nuff said. I'm pissed
mountainman 0 #6 April 12, 2001 Hey Caco...I have an idea. You should become a weather man, move to my DZ area and forcast the weather. Here is my theory: obviously, whatever the weatherpeople predict, the complete opposite happens. You can go there and predict rain, sleet, hail, a 100 ft ceiling, and high winds everyday. Maybe we'll get the opposite everyday! I am such a genius!! Wait...did I spell genius right? Is it genias? ginies?? DOH!!! Anway, it could just work!!Brandon and Laurahttp://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/a work in progress
Cacophony 0 #7 April 12, 2001 That is a superb idea mountainman!! I might give it a shot. But I don't want to turn to the dark side and become a weather man. Oh well. Maybe some day they will get it right. Hahaha!!!! I can't believe I just said that! That was a good one. Anyways, I say to just use your best judgement and completely ignore the weather guys.Safe landings,Alex D-23912
mountainman 0 #8 April 12, 2001 I think ignoring them would be your best bet. Those are not people I would want to hang out with. How long could you listen to, "Hey, Herb. Whaddya think about the approaching front with a high pressure system coming in from the north causing a jet stream obscuring the low-pressure system we've had lowering the visibility in the upper quadrant? Yeah, me too!" No thanks man...heheBlue skies, high ceilings, low winds, big planes, and naked jumpsBrandon and Laurahttp://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/a work in progress
freefallfreak 0 #9 April 12, 2001 On a normal basis, I just stick my head out the window and if it gets wet, it's raining and I stay home...if I can't see, it's probably dark and overcast...if it is warm and bright, I go...FFF
