Skydiving Poem

Recommended Posts

OK folks, here is a little background. I was sitting in my religion class at college this past Tuesday and realized that I couldn't get my mind off of skydiving. I pulled out my notebook and just started writing this. Remember, I am my no-means a poet/writer/creative writer/etc. It is just something that I thought would take away the burn of not being able to do AFF until 2002. Tell me what you think:
----------------------------
Passing The Test
As I step into my rig,
I double-check all my gear.
I load into the CASA
And hear engines in my ear.
Some people are sitting,
Some strapped to the floor.
The last person gets on,
And they shut the jumpdoor.
The CASA roars-up
and flies to the sky.
Everyone on this load
is ready to fly.
Everyone is waiting
For the same thing to happen.
The plane leveling out,
And a signal from captain.
We tighten our helmets
And check-out our rigs.
We head to the jumpramp
Like a herd full of pigs.
He lowers the door
And the first group gets on.
They see the green-light
And then they are gone.
Everyone jumps out
in our own special way.
Some groups, some single,
For some, their first day.
Everyone freefalls
And pulls the ripcord.
When the canopy fills-up
We all thank the Lord.
We float back to Earth
While under our main.
We land on our feet
And avoid hitting a plane.
We pick-up our rigs.
We've passed another test.
When we're all done repacking,
We head back to manifest.

Use this all you want, but please don't change it and keep my name with it!
Blue skies...
