way to go. wish i could say it only took me 7 jumps to complete my training, damn static line progresion took me 18 jumps and 1 year! it only gets better from now on! just wait untill you get to do some funky kinda jumps and soon you'll love it when that door opens. it means in a few seconds you'll be through it and into the wonderfull blue sky! one of the things i love is when the door comes open! i look out and think man i'm getting to leave this plane and do some really cool sh!t. have fun on the hop n pop! they can be fun as hell, i never found them scary cuz my first jump was from 3,500. but after the first one they rock. with a little more altitude a 5-15 second delay can be lots of fun! (look back in the archives for a thread between me and fff on hop n pops). also cool that your fam. came out to watch! hopefully i'll drag my parents out to watch me jump this summer when i go back home!

CONGRATS! Welcome to the fold. Now you can set other goals for yourself to work toward, having a blast along the way of course. About the door: once you start doing RW (esp. launching pieces), you'll be "floating" outside the plane, which you'll find quite comfortable after a while.
Respectfully,
SP

Now that you have learned how not to freak out and get out of control totally its time to learn to fly. I know that for me every time I go and jump with Skydive U or experienced jumper I realize how much of a newbie I am after 50 jumps. The thrill of learning to really fly instead of fall will drive you insane. Enjoy the new expereiences FLYING and ground rush.

Woohoo!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! It's a whole new world isn't it?? When you finally start to 'feel' what everyone talks about. It's like just having sex then having GREAT sex...it's all good, but damn the stuff that happens when you know what you're doing is even better!! LOL! You'll get over the door demon too :) I had a JM that told me I *would* get over it and made me start opening it...he helped me the first time or two and now it's not bothering me anymore for some reason. It all comes with time and practice :)
Congrats!!

Congrats man! Yeah it's an awesome feeling to be free to do what you want now instead of making an instructor happy.
Recommendation. Do a fun jump -- go up without any sort of jump plan (other than pull altitude - duh) and just bust out moves. That's what I did. Kind of liberating. I did a couple flips & rolls and wound up spending the second half just freefalling and watching the ground.
Funny thing was how *close* the ground looks at pull altitude. You see it coming up *fast*. Kinda freaked me the first time. I'm going "Dang. Is my alti working? Seems awfully low for 4500 feet." I still say to myself "No way this is 3500 feet." ;)

Thanxs for the good words people. Its nice to be part of the family. I also forgot to metion that my level 7 jump was the sunset load. Needless to say the sun had already set by the time we got to altitude. That was a littlle scary but still know problem except makes for judging your flare time a little hard in the twilight!!

Congrats Jason. Glad to hear you've got the AFF thing taken care of. I know my log book says in big bold letter "You are a skydiver now!!!" That made me feel really good to see. Now go do a solo and enjoy the view, sit back, and really enjoy the fact you're jumping by yourself and not under pressure from your JM's.
