SpeedRacer 1 #1 April 23, 2001 Well I just bought the last items of gear that I'll need: My own wrist altimeter and a Pro Track!I'm psyched, I now have ALL the gear & safety devices I need (for a while, anyway)! The ProTrack rules! The only thing is, if a jump gets improperly recorded, there's no way to go back & edit it without deleting the jump entirely. But still, for such a tiny box I can't believe how much info it gives you! Expensive, but cool as s#$t!Thank you, Freaksister & Skreamer for your advice! I haven't been able to jump since March 10, but I finally got out to the DZ and did two solo jumps on Sunday comparing my new wrist altimeter to the alarms set in the Pro Track. WOOOHOOO!Speed Racer"Blue Skies, Red eyes, Sore thighs!"
Greg 0 #2 April 23, 2001 Right ON!!! Congrats, yeah, I just got a Pro Track too, they are the bomb!!!BTW, you can delete the last jump from the logbook, but it wont help if you dont realize the jump was improperly recorded before you make your next jump. What kind of wrist mount did you get? I use and FT-40, its not bad, the face is a little small, but other than that, it works great!!Blue ones!!Greg A-37958
SpeedRacer 1 #3 April 23, 2001 I got a great big altimaster II. I bought it used from a rigger in North Carolina. It came with a velcro wrist strap & I added an elastic cord to loop over my index & middle fingers.Yeah, I have to delete the two jumps I made on Sunday from the Pro-Track. Someone at the DZ set it up for me & programmed in the wrong month & jump number. I hadn't realized that the Pro Track will keep track of numbers of jumps and total freefall time for up to 9,999 jumps! That is so cool for getting licenses etc. But the main function as far as I'm concerned is as an audible alarm. And on Friday my rigger finally re-installed my Cypres after getting it back from its 4 year service, so I could jump on Sunday.Speed Racer"Bluez, brewz & screwz"
Tee 0 #4 April 23, 2001 LOL Skydivers and their toys!! Congrats on the new toys....feels great doesn't it!?!?
 skreamer 1 #5 April 23, 2001 I'm really glad you're happy with your pro track Speedy, I have logged 20 jumps on mine so far and am still totally happy with it. The guys at work are already sick of me getting back to work every week and going 'Guess how fast I went this weekend?' or 'Guess how long my last freefall lasted?'. I also liked the fact that it came with the batteries installed AND a spare pair, not that big a deal at the price, but still a nice touch. Remember though that you have to log hop 'n pops manually, since freefalls shorter than 6 seconds don't get recorded.BTW did FreakSis's pro track turn up eventually? I remember her saying she had lost it, but don't know if she found it./s
 PalmettoTiger 1 #6 April 23, 2001 Funny story vaguely related to ProTracks - I went down to the DZ late yesterday to do a hop'n'pop. I took one look at the C-186 substituting for the King Air that was sold out from under us (don't worry, new one's on the way) and decided to skip the hop'n'pop. After all, I'd have to pay for the jump, pay for the rental gear, and buy beer for my first C-186 ride.Anyway, I stuck around to talk about gear that I'm thinking of buying and ended up listening to everyone tell their "no shit, there I was" stories. One of the guys who I hadn't met before, but who's apparently an instructor, lamented the loss of his pro-track. It was mounted on the outside of his helmet (OxygnA3, I think) while he was trying out the DZO's Stiletto. Wally (DZO) had told him to use front risers only and make a carving turn onto final. Robin (guy who's about to screw up) gets a great swoop going, and after he puts his feet down he lets go of the right toggle, expecting the left toggle pressure he's still maintaining to collapse the canopy. Oops. The Stiletto makes a left turn, yanks him off his feet into the air, and he said he was just sort of confused as he looked up and saw the canopy spin into line twists as the trees and sky alternated position a few times. Then he smacked into the ground, right on his Pro-Track. The funniest thing is that it's not really broken - the display is trashed, but if he plays around with the buttons it beeps just like it used to. He's thinking of borrowing someone else's unit so that he can learn the sequence of button pushes and beeps that will set his altitudes where he wants them to go. He's also thinking of putting an airhorn on his slider "because after flying that turf rocket, my canopy feels like a sky truck."Blues, squares,PTiger
 Albatross 0 #7 April 23, 2001 You might want to suggest that your friend send the broken Pro-Track back to B&L. They seem to have some of the best customer service on the planet. They have replaced several peoples "lost" Pro-Tracks or Dytters. They might be willing to fix or replace the damaged unit.Fly Free, Fly fast, Fly togetherAlbatross
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
