Darkzone 0 #1 April 24, 2001 Well, I don't know!! I got bawled at today for crossing the 'beer line'. CCI says 'If you land there again you and me are going to fall out!'. Apparently I'd crossed an 'imaginary' line that I have passed before on at least 2 occasions and nobody had said a word. I wasn't exactly close to any aircraft or fuel bowsers either. I was gobsmacked. Nobody told me about the 'beer line' although I'd heard about it I thought it was the queue for the bar :-) Anyway, I didn't care much. It was my third jump after a six month break, I was on a smaller canopy and I went from cat 5 to cat 6 as well so.....blah!!Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!! SkySlut 0 #2 April 24, 2001 So did you buy beer or what??? We got one of those too. Its usually to protect spectators (it keeps whuffos and jumpers from colliding on landings) and people that are tenting out for the weekend...but seriously...did you buy the beer or what???-Slut"I'll jump anything!" Darkzone 0 #3 April 24, 2001 Got away with it as there were only a dozen or so people at the DZ and I had to leave before the bar opened ;-)Next time.....NOT!!Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
miked10270 0 #4 April 24, 2001 Hi Darkzone,You WILL buy the beer, this is 'cos you will keep landing over the Beer Line until you pay up!!!Bear in mind that at any DZ the "Beer Line" is set by the CCI based not only on the obvious safety issues, but also on how badly the CCI wants beer from each individual. I have been present when the Beer Line has been "Significantly Moved" as someone has been flaring. This decision was obviously reasonable ('cos I wasn't the one 2 seconds from landing over the new Beer Line).Mike D10270.
ditch9276 0 #5 April 24, 2001 Could you tell me the name of your dz, please. Cause when they´ve no beer there, just in the bar. i really must think about if i want jump there. ;-)
skreamer 1 #6 April 24, 2001 darkzoneWas this at Langar? Cause on Saturday I was pissing myself watching all the students follow each other like lemmings, further and further over the beer line. I mean Langar has THE hugest landing area I have seen yet and the beer line is very reasonable. Were you one of the 3 students on Chuckles' load? Damn, I wish I could have stuck around Saturday night, because I missed out on a shedload of beers!/s

Tee 0 #8 April 24, 2001 Our DZO chooses the beer lines, not for safety issues, but to get free beer. Tee
Darkzone 0 #9 April 25, 2001 Hey Skreamer,It was at Langar but it was the Monday after the Saturday when everybody seemed to crossing the beer line. I was there too on Saturday but not on any of Chuckles loads. I saw that Student end up nearly on the Harby road. Wow, grounded after your first jump! That sucks!Anyways, I only got to jump twice 'cos of a shortage of rigs and packers, and this after a six month break. I don't think I did too badly. I blamed my landing on the 210 I jumped. It came in faster than the 280 I used previously (I'm sticking to this excuse so don't try and sway me, Mike)Where's everything gone from Langar? No planes, no packers...Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
