sibling skydivers

All right FFF, now you've done it. You had better watch your p's and q's on every post you make now! Who made you the grammar police anyway? Big meanie, pickin' on a girl...
Besides, you'll just have to overlook my mistakes, because like a lot of people, I'm trying to get most of my posts in before my boss comes back into the room, and realizes that I'm not doing any work!

I have 2500+ skydives, my father has 1, my sisters each have 2, my husband has 3500+, my father-in-law had 1500+, my 17-year-old daughter now has about 80 and her great grandfather had 1 in 1932. Her uncle has 5000+ also and all other aunts and uncles have at least 1.

I don't yet have a skydiving sibling, but my younger brother has just turned 16 and is desperate to do a static line course. My other brother is 15 and he also really wants to, but obviously, he's not old enough yet. So, fairly soon we could all be jumping, which would scare the crap out of my daddy. Having said that, it seems to be a father-daughter protectiveness thing, cos he isn't so protective with the boys!!!

And she's getting a new rig for high school graduation, but don't tell her! (it's a secret!) She made her first jump on her 16th birthday (pic in Parachutist --- mostly because her uncle and AFF jumpmaster was Kevin Gibson, Editor of Parachutist) and we think she is the first 4th generation skydiver in the world. She's going to college in Florida next year so she should rack up the jumps if she can afford them.
As to over 13,000 jumps in the family, never really thought about it that way, but it is sorta neat! We just have a good time jumping. I have 23 years in the sport, my husband 29 years and Lauren is working on 2 already. She turns 18 at the end of July. (Finally! She will be able to jump anywhere!!!!!!)
Check out the Farrington family out west. Although I don't believe they span 4 generations, I know they collectively have a bunch more jumps than ours (as does Roger Nelson, father, Missy & Rook) and so does Gene Weaver and kids and the Mullins family.
Kinda cool to see a second generation of the HERD coming into existence! Watch out world!

Wish I would have got in on this one early on, but as I am on vacation in Hilton Head I have not been checking the computer much. Anyway, here goes:
I am second generation DZ trash. My dad owns a DZ in Alabama. He (Buddy Blue, D-597) has just under 10k jumps now, is 65 years old and is still a very active jumper and pilot. Both of his brothers were skydivers back in the '60s and early '70s. My uncle, Bobby Phillips, still jumps regularly, as does his son Jay Phillips. Both of them have around 500 jumps.
Both of my sisters are "fair weather" skydivers. One, the youngest (at 23 years old) is also a pilot. Both started, worked the DZ as packers, etc., then got other interests (read: boyfriends, then husbands). Both sisters hover around 60 jumps right now and only jump when they are visiting Alabama. I just gave the oldest of the two, Ami, a tandem last weekend. Her husband, Steve, has about 150 jumps and made two re-currency jumps this past weekend after about a five year break (he did great). My mother has made two tandems, but has no desire to jump alone.
Lastly, my wife has just over 2,700 jumps. She is an AFF-I, SL-I and a pilot.
I have just under 2,700 jumps in 20 years in the sport. So few because I have taken three several-year breaks during that time. I am a "professional student pilot" who has been flying since the age of six, also. I get to retire from the military in less than a year and a half, then go back home and take over the family DZ. Can't bitch about that, can I?
