Speaking of CRW...

Recommended Posts

The other thread got me thinking about this. Are there many of you out there who do CRW pretty regularly? I would love to hear and learn more about it. After getting to try it last weekend, I really think I'm gonna try to do it whenever Tony, my coach, has time and will do it with me. It was a lot of fun!
I'd like to hear any stories, tips, whatever you guys have about CRW!

Gee, aren't there many CReW dogs out there? The Shark is only a CReWpup, low-time crew dude. My suggestion is to pull/open really, really high, wear long sleeve shirts and sweatpants or jeans to prevent line burns, an extra set of shoes (doesn't matter if they match cuz you'll lose one), a chest mount alti and a big-ass hook knife. Oh! and some tackified gloves so you can grab lots of canopy, preferably a PD Lightning.
So what kinda stuff did you do?

BTW, Perris will be hosting it's 3rd Annual Crazy CReW Weekend on June 9th & 10th.

Well i've obviously never actually done crw as i have 14 s/l jumps ;)
but.... on one of my jumps a 4way crw team came on the islander with us and bailed just after me @ 4500 feet, and well, they certainly looked like they were having fun!, stacks look awesome although one guy did lose his shoe "docking" (correct term, docking refers to rw?)
so, in short, looks fun, do it pammi :)Ed

No worries man, just to stisfy your curiousity tho... if THAT does get shaved, she generally has me do it for her!*drreeewwwwll

ROFL! *blush*
Well Shark, what I did and what I intended to do wasn't quite the same! :D We got out and opened at 6,000'. That's exactly what I was told also...jeans, gloves, long sleeve shirt...nothing about extra shoes tho :/ I had on my regular clothes then my jumpsuit over, then put my booties on cuz I thought it might help my feet slide down the lines easier (had I gotten to do that). We were supposed to have me dock on top of his canopy, slide to the middle cell, hook my feet in the lines, then slide down and sit on his slider with my feet hooked in his risers. Bi-Plane! Here's what REALLY happened. LOL!
I tried to stay steady and smooth in one direction. Did some flaring etc according to what he showed me and yelled to me. Before we went up, we had codes, tap his feet, I slow down/flare, running motions with his feet, I let up and speed up. It went really pretty well, then he came up under me, yelled at me to flare, then let it go, but I flared a second too long and it made me dive a little too fast into the back of his canopy, rather then an easy dive to the front. I though "oh shit, I hope these things are as strong as he said they are!". Actually landed on the back of it for a few seconds then basically kicked myself off of it thinking I was going to mess it up for him and 'fell' down behind him.
We didn't get to try it again, we were getting too low and we'd decided to stop all attempts at 2,000. It was a lot of fun tho! Very weird coming down on top of someone else's canopy. Awesome!!
