YoungAaron 0 #1 May 2, 2001 5 months ago i did my AFF week course and on the course i had 4 AFF instructors. About 3 weeks ago one of my instructors did a 360 hook turn and crashed bad, he almost died. Then last week end another of my instructors had a mal and a reserve ride. Then on sunday my third instructor was in the 208 that crashed at nagambie. All 3 of them could of died. To me thats freaky. But i haven't been in the sport that long. the worst thing is thinking what might happen to my last AFF instructor?
skreamer 1 #2 May 2, 2001 Not reallyYour first instructor screwed up a hook turn.Your second instructor had a reserve ride (probably not his first either).Your third instructor was one of the 11 lucky skydivers to survive that accident (owes the pilot BIG time for that).I hardly think your 4th instructor shares your overly superstitious concern, and is probably not aware of the curse that fate has in store for him just because he was one of the four people who taught you to skydive!Your real name isn't Damien is it? Don't make me come over there to shave your head looking for 6's now!!!/s

Iflyme 0 #4 May 2, 2001 Funny, Skreamer!Quoteanother of my instructors had a mal and a reserve ride. This is not too unusual... stay in the sport, and you will eventually have one (or more), too. I'm sure glad to hear that your other instructor survived that dreadful plance crash. As for the guy who hooked it in ... hmmmm. I don't have much sympathy for those who crash hard under a good canopy unless there was a bizarre change in the winds or something, or they were turning to avoid another canopy... Maybe we can pretend we are superstitious for a moment, and say: "bad things happen in 3s", and that would get your 4th instructor off the hook... skySue 0 #5 May 2, 2001 Damien...sorry, I mean Aaron, you have nothing to worry about - all of 'your' bad luck has obviously happened in a short period of time, so (statistically speaking) you'll be safe for ages and ages now!!!!!!!!However, if you are going jumping at Bridgewater could you please let me know.........I might stay home that weekend! hee hee Go for it ALL,Sue
cdunham 0 #6 May 2, 2001 All three of them survived. Maybe your good karma contributed to that!Probably it was skill, training and well-designed and tested equipment, however.Carl
