skymedic 0 #1 May 3, 2001 I just finished my AFF there and did my #8 Hop"n"Pop(I hated it) weekend before last. They truly have great instructors there. I would recomend this place to anyone. Oh yeah, THE CASA RULES!!!!
skymama 37 #2 May 3, 2001 Congrats on finishing your AFF! I didn't care for the hop n' pop too much either. Are you going to keep going back to Sebastian, or are you going to check out Titusville and Deland too? I see you live in Sanford. I'm very close by in Lake Mary. We'll have to meet up at a DZ someday!
 wingnut 0 #3 May 3, 2001 congrats on the graduation! you'll come to love hop n pops!!!!!! just wait untill it's cloudy and ya can only get 3,000ft before ya hit the clouds, any jump is better than no jump (unless it's a double mal jump!)"if dreams are like movies, then memories are like films about ghosts"-counting crows
 skymedic 0 #4 May 3, 2001 Very good point about any jump is better than no jump, but the ground is just so dang close. I am in Deland often as I am a paramedic for an area service there and usual pick up the people up there when they want to crash.
 skymama 37 #5 May 3, 2001 Quote I am a paramedic for an area service there and usual pick up the people up there when they want to crash. My goodness, I haven't met too many skydivers who WANT to crash!!I'm curious though-hauling skydivers around who have hurt themselves didn't stop you from wanting to jump yourself? I think it would stop most people. An ER nurse in Titusville told me he had patched enough people back together again (including me!), that it made him never want to try it. Of course, it all depends on the person.
 skymedic 0 #6 May 3, 2001 Hey there skymama, as soon as I get my A license I'll drop by deland, but I really do like sebastian. there is a great view of the ocean there ya know? and Skydive U provides free coaching for my consolidation jumps which is most excelent. as far as the picking people up thing it made me want to skydive even more because i realized how cool everyone is in the community. there really isnt another sport quite like this out there. I just dont see the attitudes like I do other places. see ya later, marc
 skymama 37 #7 May 3, 2001 Hey Marc-You are so right about the skydiving community. I tell my friends all the time about how great it is to just be at the DZ and hang out. Skydivers are mostly just good people, and are usually more than happy to help each other out or give advice. You don't have to put up any pretenses when you go to a DZ, and like divadiva on another thread, I find myself losing patience with the whuffo's of the world who bitch about their lives, but don't do anything about it.Believe it or not, I haven't been out to Sebastian to check out the view, but I have certainly heard about it from other jumpers. How far is it from Sanford? Do you take the Greenway and then 95? That's very cool that you get free coaching. It probably won't be long before you catch up to my number of jumps.Blue Ones-Andrea
 skymedic 0 #8 May 4, 2001 believe it or not it only takes about an hour and a half to get there on the greenway then to 95. gets kinda boring by myself. just getting to know local jumpers, but am definately having fun!!! later, marc
 froggie 0 #9 May 7, 2001 skymama, the whole EMS thing didnt discourage me. even after I heard the story of the girl who looked like a broken barbie doll after a Mal. The entire squad told me the horror stories of ems calls theyve taken at my dz in the past years. NOt many incidents but everybody has different stories about them. I actually like being at the dz. It makes me feel like my fellow jumpers are a little safer cause I know what to do if anybody gets hurt. Also, its getting to the point where the jumpers are coming to me with minor injuries, so i know that they trust me to fix em up right. Two weekends in a row, two jumpers in the trees. Nobody went to the hospital though, but fact of the matter is i was out there in the woods in only minutes. QUicker than any damn EMS unit could have gotten there. Makes me feel better, makes the other jumpers feel better. Hell, im doing a public service by being at the dz :) KIDDING! hehefroggie
 froggie 0 #10 May 7, 2001 hey, anybody know whats going on with the sebastian web site?
