freaksister 0 #1 May 10, 2001 For those of you who have worked manifest or some similar position at the DZ...how much do you get to jump and is it worth it? What kind of pay/benefits do you get? Benefits being more like perks, say free jumps or discounted jumps? I know at SDD employees don't get to jump free anymore because some people abused it but that is all I know, I never thought to ask anyone before. Just curious, if I get to move sometime this next year a weekend job at the DZ in manifest might be interesting.Sis"What we're all really seeking is something where we can feel the rapture of being alive."J.Campbell
Dutchboy 0 #2 May 10, 2001 If you want a summer job, move down to Atlanta. Our former primary manifest babe now works for my company (computer software) and they are hard up for help.
skybytch 273 #3 May 10, 2001 When I was packing I was lucky to get in one jump a day. When I was teaching FJC (static line) I'd usually get at least one low one (maybe more depending on class size), then maybe the sunset load. If you want to jump more, only work one day of the weekend. If you have a "real job" too you'll enjoy the dz job more if it doesn't take up your whole weekend.pull and flare, lisa
Stacy 0 #4 May 10, 2001 I've worked manifest at cross keys since last july. I get to jump a fair amount, as when teh tandems tend to be finished for the day (4 PM briefing) I still have a good 4 hours of daylight left. I get in over 10 jumps a week while still working. also since there are 5 of us working in manifest at once, we will rotate out. thigns work themselves out. =c)Stacyhttp://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
Emma 0 #5 May 10, 2001 Hey Freaksis, how's it goin? I was chatting to you last summer (as Daisy - decided it was a gay name and ditched it) - back then I believe we were on the same number of jumps or thereabouts?Wotcha up to now?My boyfriend works at a DZ in England, they get 6 free jumps a week and a basic pay, plus £4 for each pack job. I reckon you can make up to £500 a week in summer which is pretty good. I thinkit varies depending on the DZ you go to....Anyway, glad to see you're thinking about making the sensible move to DZ employment...I keep fantasising about it myself...he heh Blues and all that...e
