Pammi 0 #1 May 7, 2001 Well, no jumps for my birthday, unfortunately. Weather was as bad as predicted, high winds, stormy :/ HOWEVER...while down at the DZ anyway (of course...where else would we be on a weekend regardless of the weather?!) the DZ owner comes up and is like "come here..I want you to see something". I go into his office and he shows me this gorgeous Mirage container (with a Sabre 135) and jumpsuit. I, of course, had to try it on just cuz it was ssoo gorgeous and I've heard so much about how nice they feel. OOOOHHHH. How wonderful! Then I try on the jumpsuit, just for kicks. It's ssoo perfect!! *sigh* One day. So after I'm hooked, of course, Mike comes in and tells us the price. OH MY GAWD! It's incredibly cheap! The whole sha-bang, jumpsuit, rig, pro-dytter, weight vest, altimeter...just about everything! And only about 40 jumps on the entire rig. The woman who had it quite skydiving. She got remarried to a whuffo who didn't want her jumping anymore. So, we bought it!I have such a wonderful husband :) 2 rigs in 6 months!? By the way...anyone want a Dolphin and Tri? Barely used! Hehe. I love my rig, but now I have one that's going to last me a long, long time and it's perfect for me. I knew I'd have to downsize soon and wanted a better container eventually, just didn't think it'd be so soon! I will jump my Tri until we sell it to get more practice landing, then Sabre, here we come! Happy Birthday to me! :) Thanks for "listening" :) Pammi"The question is not whether we will die, but how we will live." http://trak.to/skydivechick

And what's the deal with yours?? Would it fit Laura and is it cheap?!? hahahaMORE SKYDIVING PHOTOS ADDED!!!http://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/
Kris 0 #6 May 7, 2001 Congrat's Pammi! You looked like a kid who just got a shiny new bike. :) It is a really nice rig and I think it will suit you very well once you get a bit more experience on your Triathlon, but the Sabre really will be a different animal. Get with Tony or Mike before your first (BEER!!!) jump on it so they can give you an idea of just how different a 9-cell is going to be from a 7-cell, especially with the wingloading change. I didn't know it was your birthday. We'll all have to go out to dinner next weekend or something.Be safe & Blue Skies!Kris
Merrick 0 #7 May 7, 2001 Quote"And what's the deal with yours??"Absolutely nothing, the mirage deal was just Waaaaayyy to good to pass up! We got the mirage, sabre, micro-raven reserve, about a $300 tony-suit, sapphire altimeter, pro-dytter, weight vest, and a few other items for very very cheap!!! It was an sweet deal, I just couldn't pass it up! Quote"Would it fit Laura??"Probably, just start watching for it in the classifieds! Pammi 0 #8 May 7, 2001 Thanks everyone! And Happy Birthday to you guys too Lisa and JC! Must be the month for them!! 4 others in my office all had birthdays this week also! Thanks Kris :) Yeah, actually my birthday is today, but we celebrated this weekend since it's back to work and 'life' today...not much fun in that! Merrick is setting a pretty high standard for himself buying new rigs for all "major" holidays! Hehe! I can't wait to try out the Sabre and see if the Mirage really is all that they say it is. I'm a little weird tho...I felt bad trying it on again at home in front of my Dolphin, so had to go in the other room. Merrick tried packing it up last night tho...all he can say is "have fun!!". ACK. Meanwhile I'll be praying not to have a reserve ride...it's a friggin 109!! Nothing like surfing in your reserve I guess, eh? LOL! Will have to ask about that :) Thanks for the CD too Kris! Listening to it now ... Merrick didn't like all my choices, but I do! :)Pammi(Oh btw, the strip club in Stillwater wasn't all that bad...not as nice as the one in Tulsa, but still was fun :) Nothing like sitting with the hubby to give a dollar for a bonding experience eh? LOL!)"The question is not whether we will die, but how we will live." http://trak.to/skydivechick
Tee 0 #9 May 7, 2001 Congratulations Pammi, and Happy Birthday!!! The Mirage is one NICE rig! But being a girl, I need to know the colors. Gotta love being spoiled rotten.Tee
Pammi 0 #10 May 7, 2001 LOL! We're such girls Tee! I love it! The gal who had it was apparently also very spoiled cuz she ordered it all brand new as her first rig...so it's all matching. It's gray and pink, as is the Sabre. The Sabre has that really cool 'stained glass' effect where the cells are all gray, with pink ribs, stabilizers and slider. It's even got mini-risers and rings, so perhaps I can reach the slider a little easier with this rig to stow it :) I can't wait to try it out...but I'm going to jump my Dolphin/Tri a few more times just for experience then move the Cypres out of it into my new rig cuz I prefer to have one and it didn't come with it. It's so small too, that it fits my shoulders a little better then the Dolphin did, but the Dolphin was bigger for the bigger canopy I wanted to start with. I definately am going to miss the easy packing of my Tri tho! She always opened so smooth and soft without much effort...now I have a moody Sabre to learn the qualities of..what she likes. But I intend to have this rig for a long, long time...so it was well worth it. I was going to have to downsize soon anyway since I've lost a little weight, and bought a larger canopy for my first one...so I kinda was floating backwards if there was much wind at all.Sorry, rambling :) LOL! mountainman 0 #11 May 7, 2001 that is really cool that you've found a rig that you can use for a long time. Hopefully, when Laura and I find some rigs, I'll be able to find something versatile. Is this your 2nd rig overall?? I hope I don't have a tough time finding a good used 190 or so. I think I'll be about 220 or so OTD. Jeez...I may need something even bigger.Congrats and Happy Birthday, Pammi!! Laura's birthday is on the 30th. However, I don't think she'll be getting a rig. heh heh heh.By the time we head west again, I'm sure we'll have some rigs. How far from I-70 do you live?? Just wondering for future DZ visits...blue skysMORE SKYDIVING PHOTOS ADDED!!!http://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/
Pammi 0 #12 May 7, 2001 Thanks Brandon :) It was pretty funny down at the DZ...there was so much gear trading/buying going on it was like a dropzone flea market! I guess everyone decided now was the time to switch! Yeah, this is my second rig. Merrick got me one for Valentine's Day also. It's a great rig and I love her, but this one will last me longer is definately a step up. We live about 4 hours or so from I70, just guessing. I70 is up in Kansas, where I'm from, but in the northern part. Then it's another hour from where we live to the DZ. So 5 hours would be my best guess, all interstate tho, cuz you can take I35 from I70 I believe. Definately come check it out if you get out this way and can make it!Pammi"The question is not whether we will die, but how we will live." http://trak.to/skydivechick
mountainman 0 #13 May 7, 2001 Sounds really nice to get some nice gear. I can't wait until it's our time.I think we could definetely take a detour enroute to Colorado. Just means we see more country. We may make it into a 3 locale trip (Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado). I have family that lives in TX. Could be a good time!! We'll let you know when the time comes.MORE SKYDIVING PHOTOS ADDED!!!http://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/

freaksister 0 #16 May 7, 2001 Quote My pressis arrives in 11 days, so I am excited about it. Pyke, did you intentionally spell that word, pressis, the way you did? If so it was quite clever! Pammi...I would be a litle concerned about that 109 reserve! I don't know what you would be loading it, you're not a big girl so it's probably not a problem, though.Be safe girl!"What we're all really seeking is something where we can feel the rapture of being alive."J.Campbell
Grogs 0 #17 May 7, 2001 QuoteI definately am going to miss the easy packing of my Tri tho! She always opened so smooth and soft without much effort...now I have a moody Sabre to learn the qualities of..what she likes.Nah, you'll do fine. In general, the smaller the canopy, the easier it is to pack. You already have a ZP main, so that won't be too difficult for you. The only problem with Sabres is they like to snap you every once in a while (Triathlon's do too from what I've heard). Just get someone to show you how to roll the nose to prevent that and you'll have no problem.
Tee 0 #18 May 7, 2001 Awesome colors Pammi! That canopy will look soooo amazing, especially on a nice sunny day! I fly a sabre 135 as well and was on a 7 cell Maverick before it. The 7 cell was definitely more forgiving. I was really overflying my Sabre when I got it. I was so used to being able to crank a 360 right then straight into a 360 left that when I did it under my Sabre I ended up in line twists. There will be alot of new stuff to learn with the Sabre.....but it is a ton of fun doing it!!! Tee

Pammi 0 #20 May 8, 2001 Hey thanks Pyke! I'm really excited to try it out but trying to NOT "love it to death" and am going to work on landing my Tri a few more times first. I have heard it's a whole different kind of thing with a Sabre when you come from a 7-cell...more of a flat landing then straight down. Tee?Thanks Tee!! I really am in love...of course I feel a little guilty setting it next to the Dolphin and saying "take the Cypress outta that one and put it in my Mirage"...but I love saying Mirage so much I'll get over it :) LOL! Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I am sick today *wink* Went to the DZ for a quick jump this morning (hoped for a couple, but had to come back in time to get the kids from school). Cough, cough. Definately a dangerous trend to start! LOL! It was just perfect today tho! Blue skies and little-to-no winds! Never get that on the weekend here! Was fun too! Went after Merrick and tried to find him and chase him down. Ended up not finding him til he pulled cuz he was tracking like a crazy man and was further away then I'd anticipated. Then chased him around a little with my canopy. Was a blast...Thanks everyone! BTW, Palmetto...what the hell are you talking about?! August?! November?! I'm lost...I'm blonde, even if it IS fake, so give me a break and point me in the right direction *laugh*Pammi(OH! And Pyke...very, very sweet :) Pressis? PalmettoTiger 1 #21 May 9, 2001 QuoteBTW, Palmetto...what the hell are you talking about?! August?! November?! Sorry for the obscure jokes, I don't think many people got it. freaksister 0 #22 May 9, 2001 Hey Merrick, seems to me you are making it hard for the rest of the guys, look at what they have to live up to now? They will be so insecure about themselves and how they treat their partners!! Oh well, I love Pammi to death so I can't say she doesn't deserve it. I think from all that she has been through in the past with men, she needs all the love you have to give her! Seriously though, ladies, never compare your man to another because you are simply asking for dissapointment. Only look for the good things in your man! Wash away the skid marks in his undies and and move on! Love him and don't look back! I think Pammi and Merrick must be from OZ or Venus or some other alien land! Live the fairy tale you two! Rock on! Ok so I have had a pissy post and now a mushy post. Probably better not post anymore today, no telling where it might go! Sex is really the only other topic left! heheSis"What we're all really seeking is something where we can feel the rapture of being alive."J.Campbell
