pyke 0 #1 May 16, 2001 Okay, I had this revelation last night while doing dishes and being a basic "house bitch" for the night (not that this is a bad thing)So, I thought to myself, "Hey, DZ.com is a free service provided for our benefit by a compentent, and VERY GENEROUS individual dedicated to promoting the sport in a positive way. He does this on his FREE time and while we praise his name, he receives little more than the satisfaction that thousands of appreciative skydivers in the world rely on him."So, I thought it might be an interesting proposition (and very respectful of us) if we offered the BIG CHEESE something for his efforts. After all, the amount of time we get paid to sit on the computer and chat about skydiving...we could all sacrifice one (1) jump and get this man a little just desserts.I am willing to put up $25 into a kitty to see if we can't send the HEAD HONCHO to the boogie of his choice by the end of the year.!!!And, if EL PRESIDENTE thinks that this is an effort of charity he is sorely mistaken, because we all know he makes plenty AND if one of us happens to be at said boogie, that sum bitch better buy us a beer!!!Anyway, anyone interested? If this takes off, and there is a favourable response, then I am sure Cyber (if he is keen to help out) and myself can take care of the money. To settle any fears, NO this isn't a scheme to make you all pay for new gear for me or more jumps for anyone...and anyways you can always track me down at Skydive Monroe in GA if you needed to. I just feel like giving back to the "MAN WHO MAKES THIS ALL POSSIBLE.Kia Kaha,PykeNZPF A-2584

freaksister 0 #5 May 16, 2001 Dammit you are always finding a way to talk me out of my money!!! LOl JUST KIDDING!Ok, I'm in but does it have to be an automatic $25? I don't mind that amount, but I wonder if some folks around here might be willing to contribute, but can only afford a little.Sis"What we're all really seeking is something where we can feel the rapture of being alive."J.Campbell
pyke 0 #6 May 16, 2001 Of course you don't have to pay that much. But, the other side of the coin is, if you can afford to jump more than once a year, you can afford $25 once.Any suggestions on how to pull this off? I realise this has the potential to be highly risky, but a little faith in your skydiving community will be needed here. One possible suggestion is I take in the $$ and then turn around and write the big guy a check and mail it on behalf of all of us. Another is I make it a money order and he cashes it against his dz.com account (assuming he has one).P.S. so this doesn't get out of hand, and we actually have a goal to shoot for, it costs around 500 - 600$ to fly to virtually anywhere in the US or CAN. So, why don't we make it $700 (to cover his registration fee and little pocket $$ for beer)Kia Kaha,PykeNZPF A-2584

sangiro 26 #11 May 16, 2001 Pyke and the gang! This is wild - thank you so much for the gesture. Only hosting Dropzone.com costs me the price of a complete rig every year (you go do the math!) so I'm not going to say no to any help offered. I keep on saying I'll find some time to pin down a few advertisers... but I never get to that, I still plan to You guys are more than welcome to organize this in any way you like. In the meantime, I've set up a little PayPal Donations Page for those of you who use this service. (everyone should - it's free and easy)This way you can contribute as much or as little as you want (as often as you want )Thanks again folks - you guys rock!Make a DonationSafe swoopsSangiro

pyke 0 #14 May 17, 2001 QuoteIf you'd like to donate your yacht, your villa on te French Riviera, a small DZ in Micronesia or a dozen good horses then please contact pyke and coordinate with him - he's the chairperson of the financial committee and will ensure your small and humble contribution reach the appropriate beneficiaries (me!) in a hastily manner. Hehehehe! Not to sound like an ingrate or even to sound hypocritical, but I'll be damned if you get the DZ in Micronesia!!!! How's this, once a year, I fly you down and give you a weeks worth of free jumping? That way, you get the best of both worlds! This is too funny, HH!!! I am registering tonight, and when my paycheck arrives, you get some of it!!! Have fun with it, and see you in the sky!!!(really, I hope when I go to visit my mum in SJ I can come jump with you. That would awesome! "THE MAN BEHIND THE LEGEND!!")Again, thanks for everything!!Kia Kaha,PykeNZPF A-2584
