freeflyguy 0 #26 May 14, 2001 Emma and Joolee, nice posts. That is what I was talking about. Surreal and indescribeable.I did do my first tandem the other day (passenger). Kind of uncomfortable, but the floating above the forest and lakes would give a nice feeling to a newbie. I can see how it would be a nice first experience.BTW crashing through wind blades into the pond does have it's merits :) But it wasn't the feeling I was originally talking about. Lee, I tried to do one up on Tim yesterday, but I only stripped the flag off the pole, not breaking it. Landed feet up (in 3 feet of water). Not like his, one end cell in the water for 5 feet before his body touched down. Ya he won.j
Deleted 0 #27 May 18, 2001 My first jump was a tandem and it helped me to understand the sensory overload that happens when you jump out of a plane... I saved up and started AFF asap, and that first Lvl 1 jump was so much more fulfilling and fun. The tandem was a lot scarier as I didn't know what the hell was going on, I was just falling from the sky! I agree that this experience is almost indescribable. I've only done 2 jumps (including the tandem) but I dream about skydiving at least 4 nights a week... I used to have lots of flying dreams but now I have skydiving ones.... freefall is so focused and intense, and flying down under the canopy is so peaceful, after I felt serene and calm and blissed-out! I can't wait to jump at sunset or at night with a full moon and maybe some shooting stars!
harro 0 #28 May 18, 2001 I work with computers on a helpdesk for CSC, AND without fail, at least once per day I have a skydiving question that comes my way. I love it !I get the stupid questions coming through but I believe that if I can answer them with confidence and accuracy they might one day try it. Questions like " How can you jump out of a perfectly safe plane " Is easily answered by " there is no such thing as a safe plane" Every plane has at least one chance of going in!IF FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, DON'T TRY SKYDIVING!
