Dutchboy 0 #2 May 20, 2001 QuoteWhoo Hoooo, I got my FIRST (BEER!) really stable (and good form too!) Sit-fly this weekend.Look out dark side, here I come!It really is a good feeling isn't it! You are already turned to the darkside. Perhaps I shouldn't say that, it might start a whole thread on the exact moment that you've turned. QuotePS - Didnt hurt that I was jumping with a REALLY pretty chick for a witness / coach!Skychicks make good reference objects. They are bigger than a skyball, and usually nicer to look at.It's funny. My whyffo never comes out to the DZ, but last weekend she did. It seems like over half the people I jumped with that day were skychicks. Normally only 25% or so of the folks I jump with in a given day are skychicks. I think she might come down more often just to check up on me!The Dutchboyhttp://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
skymama 37 #3 May 21, 2001 Congrats on having your first stable sit-fly! I'm envious because I was trying it today for the first time, and was flipping all over the place. It was comical. Do you have any hints on how you were able to get stable, or was it just practice, practice, practice?Andrea

Donna 0 #6 May 21, 2001 A friend of mine just did her first sitfly and she said she had tried before with her RW suit and was all over the place but yesterday tried leggings and a sweatshirt and it worked great. Good luck! I can't wait until I can try. By then you will all be real good and can give me lots of pointers, right? Blue 1111,D
SniperCJ 0 #7 May 21, 2001 OK, I have to admit, I had training wheels (a sit-fly suit). But I also did a fairly stable one with shorts and a sweat shirt. For me the big thing was keeping my knees and feet together, back straight, and arms out. Once I was stable with by knees pulled up, I could push my feet down some and remain stable.I was told to front flip into the position but I havnt been able to do that yet. I ended up easing into it from a belly down position (arms out, knees together and up).Its like learing to fly all over again! Thats what keeps this sport fun and exciting,,,always something new to play with!JC
skymama 37 #8 May 22, 2001 OK, two people have mentioned the leggins/shorts with a sweatshirt. What is the advantage of wearing those instead of my usual RW suit?
wingnut 0 #9 May 22, 2001 tight stuff on lowerbody so it falls faster while baggt stuff up top so it has more drag and keeps ya more heard up on the jump without ya having to work as hard. it's all ablout the aerodynaics of the material and stuff."if dreams are like movies, then memories are like films about ghosts"-counting crows
