Deleted 0 #1 June 7, 2001 After some years without a turbine jumpship New Zealand skydivers now have no less than SEVEN to choose from - a Pilatus Porter in Mercer (south of Auckland), a Nomad, Cresco and two Fletchers in Taupo, and another Cresco in Queenstown (for those unfamiliar with the type, a Cresco is a converted agplane, and the Fletcher is a slightly smaller version of the same)Faced with this bounty a bunch of Wellington Skydivers journeyed north, firstly to the backpacker haven of Taupo where we froze our arses off in the Nomad, -22 degrees at 15,000 feet! (for only $NZ35)Then (after our hangovers had subsided) we travelled further north to Mercer, to rhapsodise upon the ugly beauty of the Porter. Brilliant jumpship - only $NZ30 to 12,000. Certainly makes returning to the humbler delights of our C182 a little harder to bear...bugger!
