skySue 0 #1 June 10, 2001 A few weeks ago I was a little too enthusiastic with my back loop, I went to Dr. who says it's a torn deltoid - No jumping for 3 weeks, I waited 4 weeks and then did 3 jumps. That night it hurt like hell and I couldn't lift my arm at all. Had an ultrasound - partially torn tendon - so they say. Went to 2 doctors, and a physiotherapist - they all say 12 weeks before I can jump again. Go back to the Dr./acupuncturist 2 weeks later, after 2 treatments and he says 'get the shoulder strapped, see how you go'. Let me tell you - I GO DAMNED FAST, DAMNED FABULOUS. I went to my heaven-on-Earth DZ, stuffed the first attempt but did soooo well on the second. It had it all, a sunset load, we were treated to a barrel roll (love our pilot), lots of fluffy white clouds around us, a rainbow - absolutely gorgeous. God it was good, and so fast - now I know what you were all talking about when you said tracking was sssssooooooooooo much fun. And, after 35 jumps (very slow learner - but having fun) I finally had a go at landing myself (without a target assist, or any help at all in the air) and did it really well on both jumps. The second one was in the f@#$ing pit, - can you believe that??? I was singing all the way down, and I hugged my instructor so hard when I got to him that I almost strangled him. I had just the best time EVER!!!! I was on such a high that one glass of champagne (we are very cultured in Australia) had me raging all night (well, someone did top it up occasionally...). Two more freefall exercises, a hop-n-pop, a few decent landings, theory exam and I am done (A licence)- in 2 weeks. I reckon 2 weeks, more acupuncture, strapping the shoulder, and I'll be able to raise my left arm again and take to the sky. What a life.........Go For It ALLSuePS - sorry this is so long, but I just had to tell you it ALL......I still can't sleep, can't sit still, can't wait, wwwoooooooohhhhhhooooooooooo

Iflyme 0 #3 June 10, 2001 Wow, Sue - two weeks is a heck of a lot better than twelve! I'll keep the acupuncture thing in mind if I ever compromise a tendon! And I glad you had such great skydives - what a awesome sport to be a part of, huh!?!
skreamer 1 #4 June 10, 2001 Nice one Sue, sounds like you had a blast!/sPS Cultured? Australian? As if! (you were really skulling shots of bundy neat from the bottle weren't you?)
freefallfreak 0 #5 June 10, 2001 skySue,That was really neat. Take care of the shoulder, be careful and have a great time. Good luck with the licence. We are all proud of ya here. Some of us get it a little slower that others but if ya' think about it, maybe we all should take a little more time to throroughly learn about the sport than rush through it all and not learn as much as we could. I know I should have taken more time and learned more than I did before being turned loose on the world. Congratulations and have a GREAT time. We love ya'...FFF

zelda 0 #7 June 11, 2001 Congratulations!! Must feel terrific to get back in the saddle...I'm glad it went well, and I'm happy you told us about it; I did the same thing to my shoulder, and when it was bad, tracking hurt like a bitch so your experience helps put my mind at ease for when I can get back to the DZ! I'm also glad to see that I'm not the only one who can manage to get hurt in freefall without hitting another jumper congrats again and blue skies, zelda
Kris 0 #8 June 12, 2001 DZBone, I just have to give you props for making me remember the most famous Doctor of them all, the one real Doctor Who, Tom Baker.I think the TARDIS would make a damn fine jumpship and I've gotta get me one of those scarves...Kris
