Electrical work

Recommended Posts

OK, a little help from the electrically inclined (or those that have shocked themselves enough times to know what not to do) would be appreciated. I'm trying to rig a switch for my computer speakers but I've run into a problem with the ground wire(s). Anyone who knows what a ground wire is should click here to find out how you can help.
Thanks in advance everyone!!

dude,
it would be so much esier if ya just went to radio shack and bought a spliter for like 5 bucks but if ya want to do it this way then here's how........
first you can conect all your grounds on the case of what your gona mount the switch to...i wouldn't use the computer case though as a blown up powersuply on the speakers wich don't normally have as high class p.s. as a computer could spike and fry your computer!! then it's a simple task of ataching the right leads to the right terminals of all (3?) female 1/8th" ends to the switch, 2 run togeter on one side of the switch and one on the other side, all grounds togeter though. now you are gona run 1/8th" cables ends between all these???
it would be so much simpler if ya went to the store shelled ut 5 bucks and then you could go from your computers to a spliter/combiner and into the speakers...... that is if only one computer will be playig sounds at a time and as you could probly play the same ounds on one computer as the other there would be no need to have 2 playing sounds at the same time....unless ya want to listen to ozzy backwards on one and rush limbagh on the other and then in that case i'd just recomend mental help!!! :)

Hey, Wingnut ! Hey, PTiger !
You guys are making this too easy......I can't resist !!
This is the only possible scenario I see happening --
Mix :
1) one Clemson attendee....
2) 240 volts of electricity...
3) advice from the Nutman....
(I can't continue....the mental picture is just too horrific........)

Hey,
The ground in the info U have is just connected to a screw anywhere on the frame of the case.
All that a ground is is to allow a circuit to flow.... There is always a + and a - in electrical.
If not nothing will happen. I don't know of any better way to answer the question from the info U gave.
Sorry,
-Nums

Hey PTiger --
Sorry.....my bad. I just assumed the "Palmetto" and "Tiger" were synonamous with "South Carolina" and "Clemson"......of course, we all know what happens when a person "assumes" anything....
Well, this sheds a completely different light on the subject. If you attend Princeton, then I have to believe this project will achieve fruition, DESPITE the Wingnut's attempts to help....
