Pammi 0 #1 June 25, 2001 My baby was injured this weekend :( Now she has a skydiving-related scar just like her mom's. Actually, she is being rushed to the 'hospital' today so may come back good as new without scars, unlike myself But I *did* get my Falcon award Sunday!! I have to say, I'm probably not as excited about it as I should be, but I really feel like if it weren't for the other three kicka$$ skydivers, it wouldn't have happened. Okay, I KNOW it wouldn't have. LOL! We were slow Sunday, not overloaded with students for once, and so the experienced jumpers got to have some of our own fun. Tony, my student progression savior, came in and asked if I had my Falcon yet. Of course, I don't...I'm still learning to fly where I intend to really and my RW jumps never seem to go quite as we plan. Anyway, he got two other guys together, all of them having at least 1000 jumps apiece, and told me we'd try to get my Falcon! Wow. Now these guys are all friends and wonderful people, but I was sssooo nervous! I mean, these are REAL skydivers! They were so great though...really helped me with their tips and joking to put me at ease :) They set up something fairly simple and up we went. They kept telling me to be 'aggressive' and not afraid of really pushing my way into the formation to take grips. They got what they asked for! LOL! I got a bit 'too aggressive'. My first point I drove in towards Tony in front of me and ended up coming in too fast and diving under him. They were like "Woh!" I made the mistake of turning around thereby making them have to fly more to get to their spots when I shoulda stopped facing the same way, which didn't occur to me :/ But we all got back together. Then we did an 'old faithful' where Tony and I were kinda spun around by the other two, they turned us and I was to provide the 'drive'. One turn, two, three...damn, stop! LOL! They were laughing so hard when we were back on the ground about it..."looked like an AFF student jump you holding on and her spinning around and around like that!" LOL! We finally stopped and got the last two points just before break off. LOL! It was very, very fun, and a terrific learning experience! I had a great time and really appreciated those guys doing the jump with me. It was amazing :)Ah, and I learned about the turbulance that can come off of trees for a llloonnnggg way! I landed pretty far away from them, but right as I was getting ready to land, some of that turbulance tipped me clear to the side and I had to hurry and compensate just before I landed! They said it looked pretty freaky, but amazingly, handling it just kind of 'happened'. I was pretty happy with myself about that! Nearly even stood it up, but not quite. But wasn't hurt at all, which is a definately plus eh? :)Anyway, sorry for the long post. I love skydiving :) hehePammiSome new pics.

Zennie 0 #3 June 25, 2001 Congrats Pammi!Sounds like you had a lot of fun. A lot easier when you're the only low-timer in the group eh? I did a 3-way with some seriously experienced jumpers and we turned like 8 points. Still no dice on 4-way though.------------Blue Skies!Zennie

Grogs 0 #5 June 25, 2001 QuoteJust what is a Falcon Award anyway? It's for a 4-point 4-way, i.e., at least 4 people on the dive making 4 separate formations.

skreamer 1 #8 June 25, 2001 I think that is totally out of order PT! I think Canada is a wonderful place, full of beautiful, intelligent, kind, considerate people. I think if the rest of the world was more like Canada it would be a MUCH better place./sBTW I met RemiAndKaren and Karen on Saturday evening at Langar - Remi is built like a brick shed-house (we're not talking too many pies here either) and I am not sure I can run faster than him. I love Canada, I wish I was Canadian..."Blue Screens Black Coffee"
