lazerq3 0 #1 July 3, 2001 I'm not trying to get deep here or anything,,but I was just thinking that its weird that when you jump out of a plane you feel really no sence of falling and even though your traveling at like 120mph down give or take its not til you fall into someones burble that you go "oh shit I'm falling... this aint good" and really feel a drop half way into your jump. Yes this can be fun to do,,,but not when your trying to build a 12 way and three jumpers go low right under the base, then the whole damn thing collapses onto itself. I dont know... just a thought running through my head!jason(A- I want my #)
DZBone 0 #2 July 3, 2001 So, this is because the feeling of falling comes from acceleration, which you don't get at terminal velocity (by definition), unless, as you observe, you get caught in a burble, "cork", or otherwise disrupt the equilibrium between the relative wind resistance and acceleration due to gravity. One of the fun things that evolving in a constant gravity field has given us, that we toss away with our clever technology (along with motion sickness, but that's another post Carl
DiverDave 0 #3 July 3, 2001 One the great 'falling while falling' sensations is flipping off your belly into a full-on stand... WOOHOO!Cheers... Dave
Grogs 0 #4 July 3, 2001 QuoteOne the great 'falling while falling' sensations is flipping off your belly into a full-on stand... WOOHOO!Or going into a head-down while trying to swoop. The first time I accidentally did that and felt the bottom drop out on me scared me pretty good until I realized what had happened.
