lazerq3 0 #1 July 3, 2001 We had aa super otter from arzona for the weekend. Got 9 jumps outta it. One 12way (well attemted 12way), one 6way, 0ne 9way, one 2way, two 3ways, and three 4ways.(would you like fries with that?) It was one hell of a learning experience!! I just dont see how I wiil be able to go back to jumping out of a cesna again. Any way that was the first time I've ever seen one let alone jump one. Now however I feel like someone picked me up and body slammed me. I know I know only 9 jumps but what can I say ...I'm a puss. Hoipe everyone else had an incredible weekend...of coarse when your jumping there always incredible!!!!!jason

skybytch 273 #5 July 3, 2001 Quotenot everyone lives 5min away from there DZI live 5 minutes from a dz, but they only have a Cessna 206 so I drive 15 minutes in the other direction so I can jump outta Super Otters and a Skyvan. But then again, I'm just a bitch Otters are a kick in the butt huh lazer? I first jumped one when I had about 50 jumps (all out of Cessnas) and I fell in love! Next time, try a tube exit! And you should always love your Cessna's - can't kiss the pilot on the way out of an Otter... (encourage your dzo to find a female pilot, you'll see what I mean)pull and flare,lisa----I don't think much, therefore I might not be
harro 0 #6 July 3, 2001 I feel so lucky. My DZ has a full time skyvan.Freemind, freesky, freebeer, freefly, freesex

DZBone 0 #8 July 3, 2001 So, Jason, how did you like the exits? What positions did you take?
pyke 0 #9 July 3, 2001 You lot are some spoiled people!!!I don't have anything against a cessna...if it takes you up..who cares what it looks like/flys like. And so what if you only get 5 in it...that is 5 less that have to sit on the packing mats and talk about skydiving. I did my first 70 jumps out of nothing larger than a cessna (only one out of what would compare to a Porter), and they work. Now, having said that...I can't imagine going in another one up to "full" altitude...I love our King Air. CASA's rock, as do Skyvans!!But really people...when you have to make do, you have to make do. There was a time when cessnas were all the rage!!So, if nothing else...have respect for the "old timers" here and give up some love for the C- crew!We love ya!!!!Kahurangi e Mahearangi,PykeNZPF A - 2584
lazerq3 0 #10 July 3, 2001 QuoteSo, Jason, how did you like the exits? What positions did you take? The exits were awsome....just pushing people out the door. I mainly took rear middle in the door I guess you would call it. I was jumping with a lot of experienced jumpers so I flew base as often as I could,,, although there were enough collaspes that would force us all to fly back in to formation,,so either way I learned a TON about flying my body and matching fall rates!!!!Speaking of tube exits,,, I got invited to do one on sunday but I was alllllll tapped out of money it sounds like a blast though!!jason
mouth 0 #11 July 3, 2001 Jason....you must do a tube. I took JT on one and we hit 188 mph. A blast. We attempted a Horny Gorilla but it fell to shit so I guess I'll have to get JT for that one next time he is in GA.As for a plane there is no way you will get me out of a Cessna after my hop and pop a year ago. Door on head, strut in face, altimeter ripped off and flapping in my burble hitting me in the face. Maybe next time it would help if the JM had ever exited a cessna before she told me how to do it??NO THANKS, I am a PLANE SNOB and proud of it! I love out super otter. I get to sit up front lots since I am small and then they literally pass me over their knees to get me to the back of the plane for jump run! Nothing like it! Dutchboy 0 #12 July 3, 2001 Don't be such a snob. I had my first 182 jump this winter (Feb?) and have since gotten a couple more. The key to jumping from a 182 is not to do a student exit. You have to do something more fun. Sitflying is easy, especially if you sit next to the pilot.I always get out facing the rear of the plane. If I'm belly flying I'll get out on the step and let the wind blow me over 135 degrees and I'm instantly flying belly to earth in the relative wind.Mouth, I'm about twice your size and don't have any door issues on the 182. Don't get me wrong, I love the Super Otter, but enjoy an occassional Cessna jump too.The Dutchboyhttp://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
DZBone 0 #13 July 3, 2001 Quotethere is no way you will get me out of a CessnaWell, you never know when you might be on a business trip, or visiting relatives out the middle of nowhere, say OKLAHOMA, and need a fix.You wouldn't want to limit your options like that!Carl
flyingferret 0 #14 July 3, 2001 Well, I actaully like Cessnas. Don't get me wrong I like big planes too. I have jumped a King Air, Twin Otter, the ill-fated Single Otter, and several C-182s. I like the fast ride to altitude in big planes. But there is something comfortable about a Cessna to me. It is how I was 'raised', the majority of my jumps are out of a 182. It just feels like home for me. The sky seems bigger when your plane is smaller. Besides....look at all the exits, In the V, hanging off the front of the strut, backflip off the step....and hanging inverted with your feet on the wing. I would like to see you do anything of those out of an otter.Of course, there are still a few rounds at my DZ too. But hey guys, there is more to skydiving then new equipment or when to pull. It is friends and nostalagia....at least to me. So, hail the to the skies of 182s and PCs.Malachi
