tuomas 0 #1 June 15, 2001 how can one practice for base jumping during regular skydives? assuming that i skydive with regular gear and from cessna. Is there any other ways to coach yourself for the first base jump?
mccordia 74 #2 June 15, 2001 You could yell 'door' when the plane reaches about 500 ft and get out :)But other then that...no clue, sorryGreetz,JC
Emma 0 #3 June 15, 2001 I am no expert but I would imagine that it's well nigh impossible, given that in BASE you start with 0 relative wind, and from a plane you always have some to work with, even from a Cessna.Get yo ass to Norway!EEdited by Emma on 6/15/01 05:19 AM. PalmettoTiger 1 #4 June 15, 2001 Balloon jumps would be good practice if you can get them. You'll start with 0 relative wind, just like a BASE jump, but you can start high enough that your reserve is useful.Blues, Squares,PTiger*insert sub-100 character sig here*
Zennie 0 #5 June 15, 2001 Two words: Mr. Bill"Oh Noooooooooo........!!!!!!!"Go to www.blincmagazine.com, they have a lot of good articles on training for BASE. The biggest thing is learning canopy control. Both during deployment & landing. And ya don't use those little kleenex tissues for parachutes. They gotta be big for maneuverability & stability. So practicing on a 200+ square foot canopy would be wise.------------Blue Skies!Zennie

RemiAndKaren 0 #10 July 4, 2001 I Was There!!! And the damage wasnt to the guy who jumped, it was the "ground crew"....The "RV BASSE" dude spotted a little short, and the whole of his weight ended up on the 1st pair of people trying to catch him! Their heads slammed into each other... OUCH...Damm dagerous sport that BASE stuff....
