Help!!!!

Recommended Posts

Are you not in an area that has another DZ close by? If so, you might run your operations out of there. Lots of clubs operate that way, including the one I primarilly teach at. Generally, you can talk the DZO into giving the club discounted jump tickets. Most places will thank you for the increase in their business.

well, I don't know where you live 'cause I haven't check it yet, but since summer is coming up there are usually heaps of art and wine shows about....sugguestion...
get a booth at one (registration costs are usually like 100$ and all you need is a table and a barbie) and sell hot dogs and hamburgers.
Get heaps of photos and stick them on a board. Prop the board up for people to look at after they put their condiments on their buns (!:o), and have a mannequin with a rig on for a demo (remember to keep it in the shade!). If you have a enterprising enough DZO, you might be able to swing some of the initial costs with him and help him advertise his dz as the place they can go if they are interested. That kind of publicity you can't buy!!!B|
I used to do this with my Scout troop and you can clear over 2,000 - 4,000$ in a summer with a couple of good sized fairs. That is heaps for a club like 10-20, but only got a few of us in our troop off to the cool camps overseas.
hell, even if you only made 1,000$, you could discount everyones' tickets to quincy by 100$!!!!B|
anyway, that is my suggestion!

I found your article about landing on top of buildings quite facinating, thank you!!!!!
Thanks for the advice, but we don't have fairs.
What we do have is Bazaars, the same principle as a fair but much, much smaller. If we get 200 people to attend the fair it's a big sucsess. And we don't do tandems at our club (no tandem master), and we already asked everybody who was remotely interested in jumping, who by the way did one jump and then left.
Any other ideas???????

Design some custom t-shirts and sell them around your area and on the internet. Find someone with a digital camera or a scanner and start offering jump photos printed onto a tank or a Tshirt. Just don't take any of my designs or slogans : )

Someone at my DZ did a marshmallow drop. It was fun!
You sell numbered marshmallows and they drop 'em from a c-182 on the landing area. Closest one to the peas wins the money... but not all of it :)They were raising money for the SPCA and a marchmallow went for 5 bucks. Some lucky skydiver won $300... They did it on a boogie weekend, which probably helped.

How many marshmallows hit the tummies?????

Many people employed the 5 second rule, the 10 second rule, etc... in short, all retrievable marshmallows were consumed by hungry skydivers! :D
I was too slow to get one :(.
There was also a lot of joking around about marshmallows mysteriously dropping out of pant legs etc... since the marshmallows were left unattended many times during the day.
