RW Fun (was: RW Frustration)

Recommended Posts

What an absolutely fantastic day of skydiving I had yesterday! Got to the DZ early and planned to bust out as many jumps as I could. I was determined to not let anything get to me, just have fun. Started with a 7-way that got a couple of points -- not too bad for the day's first jump.
The I got together with three other high-timers (one of whom was our own jumperpaula) to do some 4-way. First 4-way we do.... 14 points!!! Falcon/Double Falcon! YEAH! :)Next 4-way was a little more interesting. We get to 14K only to go into a steep dive down to 10. Nothing like 23 bug-eyed skydivers (who were probably all thinking "Bail? Bail?" like me) to get the blood going. The dive was so steep it faked out my ProTrack into thinking I had an exit alti of 13.9K and a deployment alti of 13.2K for an 8 second freefall. Turns out he was avoiding some nasty weather. So, we were out at 10K and managed a couple of points before I went low.
Next 4-way was a little better with about 7 points.
I did some freefly the rest of the day while jumperpaula and the rest of the crew did some big-way. Paula even had a beer jump as she did her first 20-way. She was very keyed up when she got back down. Kind of that feeling you had when you first started jumping.
On the sunset load we got a little extra altitude and I pulled high. I just sort of drifted around enjoying the sunset. We topped it off with an SCR ceremony for three of our former "maggots".
So all in all a very good skydiving day. I live for days like that! :)And thanks again Paula, Mikey & Rich for restoring my faith in RW!

Outstanding job Zen-man. Sounds like you found some better people to jump with, huh? :P It's great when you can go group with a bunch of people and nobody really cares if you screw up isn't it? They might give you a world of shit, but they don't really care and they had a lot of fun.

Actually, we REALLY made him fly.

And I'm still sore. But it's a good kind of hurt. ;)
Might also have to do with the fact that I did 7 pack jobs (which is by far the most I've done in a day). :P

THANK YOU ANTIMIKE FOR GETTING IT TOGETHER.
This was the most amazing skydive ever! I was sooo scared before the dirt dive, pacing back and forth, my heart was racing. As soon as the organizer took over and started orgazining the 20 way TEXXAS STAR, they put me in the base and I just got a suddent rush.
I looked around the 5 way base of my skydive with a very very humble sense of honor. I couldn't believe some of the people that were jumping with me and I felt instantly at ease.
Everyone smiled the entire time, in the dirt dive, in the mock up, in the plane. The smiles made me feel even calmer.
One Jumper sat next to me in the plane giving me tips the entire ride to altitude,(and after every tip, he said "and smile") I was so absorbed and intensely listening that I didnt have time to be nervous or scared.
I flipped on exit (from the center with 9? floating) but found my slot and built the base and smiled my ass off. I kept my eyes glued to the opposite side of the formation. Falling level. Second point, but built a 10 way round in the center, still smiling my ass off.... with Cat - (few cat's out)
I had really nice clean air when I tracked because I realized, MY TRACK IS NOT AS FLAT some others ....First time I ever tracked away from 19 other people. Need to work on that And, lots of landing area!!!
Man, guess that's another cure for me. Nothing wrong with big ways....
I hope I thanked everyone enought. I couldn't put into words the honor and excitement I felt other than to say THANK YOU. They told me later , after the skydive..."You know, on the base of that skydive, the other 4 jumpers with you had over 36,000 skydives combined." How do you thank someone for Organizing that kind of thing....for you?

Cat- Short for Caterpillar. One the limited positions that thoses who spend the entire skydive in the deployment position arange them selfs in. Basicly its Both people facing the same way with arm to leg grips taken. The lead of the cat is facing into empty air. The rear person is taking grips on the 3'rd grip position. First is star, then Sidebody, then... and finally sidebody again on the other side. Cats are great for doing Cat-tails.... Just remember to take loose grips :)Whoa... That was cool!
