Jumperpaula 0 #1 July 16, 2001 Well, betcha can't guess who did their first CReW jumpFriday. Why Yes, it was ME! I docked, slid down the lines and put my feet in his front risers, did some spirals, he took some pictures of me. We tried a side by side but I collapsed. Got the stack back together, more spirals then we took it to 30 feet, I kicked out of his risers and we both landed like birds. I was SOOOO amazing. The most fun I have ever had under canopy Strangely, I feel like a canopy pilot MAGGOT. I have a renewed fire to learn to fly my canopy REALLY WELL. Bye Bye downsize fever....I found a cure. Im keeping my square!! Fly Your Slot !
axe96bam 0 #2 July 16, 2001 I know how you feel. I just had my first taste of CReW on Sunday. It was really cool. I did it with a guy who was on the first CReW team ever made, and whose SCR number is #4, so needless to say it was really easy because he is so good. We just did a 2 stack and did some spirals over a public event at the other side of the airport. I heard the crowd scream even though I had a full face and we were above 2,000ft. It was great. Jumperpaula 0 #3 July 19, 2001 So, how many coached jumps doing CRW should I have before I try it with someone who is NOT coaching me. Like AFF- say 7 to 10 jumps with "an instructor" or coach. There are a few of us at the DZ interested, but I wanna play it safe. Should my dawg that is also not a coach or expert have 10 or so CRW jumps under them before we try together. I KNOW it depends on skill, but since I've never been UNDER CANOPY with a person, how can you assess by experience level? Fly Your Slot !
Shark 0 #4 July 19, 2001 I guess as many as you feel comfortable with. I think your AFF analogy is pretty good. I docked on another student, after our 4th crew jump I think. Tried to build a Diamond, with a 2 stack stinger. Couldn't get the off-sets stable and broke it off around 4 or so. Afterwards, everyone was scrambling to find somebody to pin! My 5th jump was the 8 stack and 5 of us were "students"/crew pups. So, just allow yourselves plenty of altitude and break-off higher.
