harro 0 #1 July 20, 2001 A BRISBANE skydiving instructor has died after landing heavily during ajump.The man, 33, died in the Esk Base Hospital just after 2pm yesterday afterthe midday jump at Ramblers Drop Zone atToogoolawah, 130km west of Brisbane.Senior Constable Peter Redman, of Esk police, today said the routine jumpwas going as planned until the instructor was closeto the landing site, when a problem occurred causing him to land veryheavily."We're looking at whether he's had some sort of equipment failure not farfrom the ground," Snr Const Redman said.The man was taken by ambulance to the Esk Base Hospital and preparationswere under way to airlift him to Brisbane whenhe died from his injuries.A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Monday.A report on the skydiving death is also being prepared for the coroner.
