aufreefly 0 #1 July 20, 2001 I was just wondering what happened to all of the other dropzones in Georgia, and for that matter South Carolina. This website seems to say that ASC is the only dropzone in the southeast. I am sure that there are some great people in ASC but don't they think it would be better to let someone who is thinking of going on a skydive to have the choice of where to go. Also can someone please tell my what organization it is that only recognizes ASC as a dropzone in Georgia. I thought that was the USPA's job.

pyke 0 #5 July 20, 2001 Well, I take it by posting this you weren't around for the ASC flaming that happened about 3-5 months ago. Boy, did you miss a roasting!!To sum it up for you as objectively as possible:ASC listed themselves as 3 diff dzs in 3 diff states. They own the domain names to 3 different sites as well. apparently, if you rang one of the numbers on any of the sites, you were bound to get different info re: prices and times than if you rang a number from a diff site- still taking you through to ASC - so there was a lot of deception happening there. Also, several people had jumped there and flamed them with reviews.Sangiro answered the call of all the abuse on the forums and dropped all but the listing for them in GA, which was the ONLY real one.So, if skydivinginfo.com leads you to believe that ASC is the ONLY dz in the area/state...that seems to be what they are hoping for. But, you decide based on your own information/experience.As far as your question re: organization recognition...I don't think I understood it from the way you wrote it.Kahurangi e Mahearangi,Pyke NZPF A - 2584USPA C- ????? cyberskydive 0 #6 July 20, 2001 skydivinginfo.com is a website of a supposed NSA(national skydiving association), what the website claims is that only the dropzones listed are deemed to be safe places to skydive by the nsa, so to sum it up its a scam to trick people into thinking they are the only safe dropzone.NSA = more BSC-28534http://www.sunraydesigns.com
freaksister 0 #7 July 20, 2001 First of all there have been about 4-5 ASC flamings since I first started coming to this website over a year ago. Hell, that may even be an understatement. aufreefly 0 #8 July 20, 2001 I was not trying to start a debate about the DZ's. I have not kept up with all of the posts about this. I will try to find the previous posts. I was writing after talking to a person in Auburn looking to make their first jump. I had told them there were many dropzones in GA and they contacted me and told me that they found only one. I had never heard of skydivinginfo.com and was curious if anyone else had. If all anyone is going to say is that I suck for posting this then that is fine, but I appreciate the one response that I got informing me about the previous posts. If anyone else would like to say something constructive that would be great but I was not looking to upset anyone, well maybe the people who created that website. SkymonkeyONE 4 #9 July 20, 2001 QuoteThis website seems to say that ASC is the only dropzone in the southeast. Well at least you, for one, know that there is another one ten miles down the road that you can jump at. LOL! Looking at the dropzones currently listed in this site is not a very good indicator either. It is a shame that the other DZO's don't use this FREE chance to list their operations. For example, there are only two DZ's in Alabama currently listed, but we both know that there are plenty of others. As for "those other guys" and their advertising practices, I don't agree with them at all. That does not mean that I don't the jumpers there; I swoop with several of them and they are very cool. freaksister 0 #10 July 20, 2001 Hey now, don't take it personally! Sorry, bro! Listen we are just sick of the debate. You don't have to read up on the old threads...here's the deal: tell your friend to go to http://www.uspa.org and look under Georgia, or just go to either the dropzone in Monroe, GA http://www.skydivemonroe.com or the one in Thomaston, GA...what is their URL? I think it is http://www.skydiveatlanta.comThose are the two best...I hear Rome has new ownership and is up and coming as well...uh, I can't remember their DZ's name.Good luck, and hope this helps. SkymonkeyONE 4 #11 July 20, 2001 I must have been mistaken in thinking you are one of the guys that jumps at Skydive Opelika . Obviously you don't know there is a DZ on exit 38 on I-85, ten miles from Auburn. Why in the hell would you take a student all the way to ASC or anywhere else in GA to learn to skydive? Now up-jumpers are a different story; lots of us just MUST jump turbines, which there are none of at Skydive Opelika. Chuck

ME stir up TROUBLE??? How on Earth did you guess?? LOLIf I can just get out of town to the boogie I will be stirring up lots o'trouble! Dutchboy 0 #19 July 21, 2001 QuoteThose are the two best...I hear Rome has new ownership and is up and coming as well...uh, I can't remember their DZ's name. The one in Rome is now know as Atlanta Air Sportz http://www.airsportz.com. The new owners have injected some new life into this DZ. I have to say that my brother-in-law did his first jump (tandem) there three weeks ago and he had the best experience of any of the ~20 friends I've convinced to try it. His video was awesome, made all the rest look like home movies.Thomaston is #1 in up-jumpers flown in the state. They've been know to fly over 1000 jumpers on a good summer weekend. If you want to do 10 jumps in a day, then this would be the place to do it. If you want to jump at a more relaxed pace or don't want to drive so far then you might like the level of attention you'll get at Air Sportz. The Dutchboyhttp://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
