Slowfaller 0 #1 August 9, 2001 I just got off the phone w/ Sunrise Rigging ( Wings ) because I'm going to be buying a new containerTurns out I was saving only about $150. I explained everything to Wings and they just gave me an awesome deal. Wings has just built a very loyal customer and I thought everyone should know Wings is all about customer moral. I'm sure if I ever need anything from them once the rig is in my possesion, their customer service will be just as good as what I had to go thought the process of buying one. I hope this doesnt sound like a commercial, I'm just pumped to finally have my own gear.I want to know if anybody has had a bad expierence w/ Wings. Viking 0 #2 August 9, 2001 Wings huh? looks like a sissy rig to me http://www.dropzone.com/graphics/gear/sunrise_wings.jpgRemember when Sex was safe and skydiving was Dangerous?
mattb 0 #3 August 9, 2001 I've had only good experiences with Sunrise Rigging as well. The stiching on my mudflap (initials) is coming out. They said over the winter to have it repaired at no cost and that they would handle shipping both ways. Matt

flyhi 24 #6 August 9, 2001 Went to the Byron Boogie last year. Wings was the unofficial rig of the DZ. They did a Wings-only jump on Sunday morning. It looked real impressive to me as I was lying on the ground holding my head. They all swear by them.
outthere 0 #7 August 9, 2001 ***Wings was the unofficial rig of the DZ.{/quote]It's actually in the process of becoming the official DZ rig at Byron. All Student and rental gear is being swapped out from Vector to Wings and all staff are buying them too - granted at VERY good staff discounts. So does this mean that it is a great rig or could this be that one of the staff members is a company rep and personal friend of the owner of Sunrise Rigging? No seriously, I think they are well constructed and great all around rigs, everyone at our DZ who has one swears by it. It is the most comfy rig I have ever tried on. When I am ready to buy new gear that's the first container I would think of.e
mattb 0 #8 August 9, 2001 QuoteI didnt know you flew a Wings Matt. How ya like it?I'm very happy with it. I can't claim to be an expert on rigs and the Odyessy wasn't out yet when I bought it. But I like the design (nothing flapping around in freefall) and I like the upward closing main flap. It's comfortable (get the articulated harness) but I am comparing it to rental gear so it's tough.-mob or mcb according to the stiching on my container
Slowfaller 0 #9 August 9, 2001 Quote(get the articulated harness) Totally. Articulated harness, kill line pc. , mid flap stripes, and the hackey for $880. I'll take it.Chris
skreamer 1 #10 August 9, 2001 QuoteI want to know if anybody has had a bad expierence w/ Wings.I've made just over 30 jumps with my new Wings so far - it is pretty damn comfortable. The pud BOC handle draws a lot of attention (definitely get one), as well as the flaps (generally people are quite impressed). Biggest problem? the fact that everybody wants to have a go on it. (its MY new toy and I hate sharing )
mountainman 0 #11 August 9, 2001 QuoteArticulated harness, kill line pc. , mid flap stripes, and the hackey for $880Is this for a complete new rig?? If so, that is one hell of a deal. Also, are these rigs "freefly friendly"?? My wife and I are going to be getting gear this winter, but I'm not sure what to get. I am thinking about new containers and used canopies so we can downsize.Either way, just wondering about the specs. What is their addy anyway??Thanks for the input...--------------Check out our all-new website!
Slowfaller 0 #12 August 9, 2001 $880 for a brand new custom *empty* container. I figure when I'm ready to downgrade it'll have good resale value. A lot of people freefly with Wings at Skydive Chicago and the riser/pin protection seems ROCK SOLID. And skreamer, when can I try your rig? C'mon on down to Skydive Chicago.Chris

Austin 0 #14 August 10, 2001 Chris,Where did you find a new, custom Wings with kill line, rings and hackey for $880???? I ordered one about 3-4 weeks ago for 25% off and got it without pinstripes, but with the rings and hackey and I got mine for $990 or so (actually, I'm waiting on mine for that still). Anyway, I was just curious... I can't wait for mine to get here, it's supposed to leave the factory on Aug 21, and I have both of my canopies here waiting for it!!!Happy Hops,Austin
Viking 0 #15 August 10, 2001 i retract my former statement i have been reading about the wings and now i am thinking of making IT my first rig instead of an Infinity. Gotta see how wide the leg straps on the wings are before i say for sure. Remember when Sex was safe and skydiving was Dangerous?
Slowfaller 0 #16 August 10, 2001 QuoteWhere did you find a new, custom Wings with kill line, rings and hackey for $880???? [storytime]One day I'm on the web at work and I'm checking out skydive chicago's bulliten board. Someone was selling a 50% off certificate for a Wings Container. I emailed her and she was selling it for $300. I thought it over ( not knowing it would be off retail only ) and I bought it. Later in the week I called Sunrise Rigging just to get some info and let them know my situation. They felt kinda bad that I bought this certificate for $300. Turns out I'd only be saving close to $150. So, to make a long story short Sunrise rigging knocked off $200. $1,330 minus 50%. Plus options is $780 plus $300 ( for the certificate ) is $1080. Minus $200 is $880.[/storytime].Thats why Sunrise Rigging Kicks A$$!!!!Chris
outthere 0 #17 August 10, 2001 I am not sure how the width of the leg straps compare to other rigs, or the Infinity specifically, but the position of the leg straos ibn the wings is slightly different than most(all?) rigs. They do not ride up as high on your inner thigh and create more of seat. I haven't gotten to jump one yet, but when I tried on a couple around the DZ they were definetely the most comfortable of the rigs I tried on. The articulated rings make a huge difference too. e
Vlad 0 #18 August 10, 2001 SR kicks ass ! Their service is the best ! I had my Wings in 5 weeks instead of normal 8. I called SR, told them that I need my container before I go to California, and they made it in time without any "rush" costs. The container is the best I have tried. I wanted a Mirage before, but now I think Wings is better . I personally like the exposed pilot chute (Missing in Mirage), upward closing main flap (missing in Javelin), bomb-proof reserve closing flap (Missing in Talon - keeps coming open). The riser covers are big and secure, and they do not bend like many others - so they would last much longer.Comfort is just great ; legs pads are thick and wide, hip rings are the cheapest (only $90 for a set) and are comphy.Overall:: Great service and excellent container ! Slowfaller 0 #19 August 10, 2001 QuoteI personally like the exposed pilot chute (Missing in Mirage)What do you mean by that?CHris
Vlad 0 #20 August 10, 2001 I mean that in Mirage you cannot see an exposed part of the pilot chute (like in Javelin, Wings, and Dolphin). Exposed pilot chute means less flaps in a way of deploying reserve canopy.
