VivaHeadDown 0 #64 August 3, 2001 It's nice to see such a variety of sizes, and it seems like a lot of people have chosen their main wisely. I have nothing against small canopies, and hope to have a hankerchief of my own some day when I'm able, but safety is the sign of a great skydiver and I'd be glad to jump with any one of you! : )
freaksister 0 #65 August 3, 2001 Hey Viking, you're not the only one with an old container. You should see Pyke's! It is a dinosaur Racer and I've counted 8 times that I alone have heard people tell him something is wrong with his risers...The good thing about this is that you know people are looking at each other's gear and looking out for each other! Yoshi 0 #71 August 8, 2001 I jump a crossfire 149 with a raven dash-m reserve cypress all nicely packed in a reflex. it was my first canopy but I am not wing loading it too heavy I weigh 165 naked but dripping wet:) it flies great and i have had no problems landing it.. I love the size but someday soon (after enough experience of course) I wan to downsize eventually to a 109 or something equivelant. I am slowly learning the front riser approach for landing now doing 90 rights on the toggle and a 90 left on the front riser ...great swoops so far.. great fun! bbbilly14 0 #73 August 10, 2001 Javelin with a Sabre 150 main, and a Tempo reserve. Cypres AAD and no RSL. Main wing loading is 1.45:1. I am a new jumper (66 jumps and I am VERY comfortable with this canopy). Do most of you consider this too high of a wing loading? I ask, because at my home DZ, we aren't taught to load up this high, but are given the training and confidence to do it. I now have 25 jumps on it (I know, not many jumps), and have learned to respect and be (VERY) cautious with it. I have jumped in winds from nil to 15, and always feel comfortable. Mind you, I am not into low hook turns, as I don't feel comfortable messing around close to the Earth yet. So here is my point: I get two distinct responses from fellow jumpers. From those visiting my DZ, I get the "You're really screwed-up in the head", while from those normally there it is "Good for you!"So what's up???
